Ian Fisher netted a splendid £17,300 when winning the Main Event at the vcpoker.com sponsored "Christmas Cracker" Festival held at The Rendezvous Casino. A bumper entry of 104 braved the cold weather at Brighton, & with vcpoker.com adding £2,500 in Prize Money, the players were effectively in a decent comp "juice free".

In a titanic struggle, Ian eventually overcame the vastly experienced Latif, who had made the long journey from Newcastle worthwhile in collecting £8,500 as runner-up. Stevec Robson got £6,000 for 3rd, & cricketer Ed Giddins showed he is an all-rounder by catching £3,600 for 5th. Sandwiched between in 4th was Janice Phillips (£4,700) who put up the best female performance of the week, though most players would agree that the stunning Brighton valets performed pretty well too!

The week long Festival had seen entries considerably ahead of last year, & with The Rendezvous planning to double the size of their card-room, the future of this progressive& luxurious Casino as a poker venue is assured. The Festival attracted a prize pool of no less than £136,000, with nearly 400 entrants during the week.

The 64 runner £50 PLHE on Tuesday saw S Bovis collect £3,460 out of a prize pool of £9,100, whilst Wednesdays £100 ROE went Dave Barlows way (£5,400).

The Ranking Events began on Thursday, & the hosts must have been delighted to see "El Blondie" Dave Colclough head the 73 runner £100 NLHE field, but it was local Ross Wood who picked up the very handy £7,900 winners cheque.

Friday saw the £200 PLHE, and C Liperis proved best of the 56 runners & must have been delighted with his £11,500 payday.

Player of the Festival? Ross Wood had a win and a third, whilst the in-form Dave Penly had a 2nd & a 3rd, but for sheer consistency, Jeff Blake, who made 3 finals on the bounce, & who was card dead all week, maybe deserves the nod. Jeff is a standing dish at Brighton, & has scored at least once at every Festival held there this year. Well done Jeff.

The next major date at The Rendezvous in Brighton will be the Jet Set sponsored "January Sales Poker Festival" which will feature the £500 NLHE Jet Set Challenge, with £2,500 added by the title sponsor. Book early!
