The first land based qualifier for the William Hill Grand Prix went really well and has helped calm the nerves I had on the way to Newcastle. I spent the train journey worrying that we wouldn't cover the seat, had I given the players too many chips and would that have an detrimental effect on the rebuys, and did this new shirt really go with this suit?

I was comforted by the steady stream of good players that started to register and we even had to delay the start for a few minutes as players that were travelling up the A1 had a bad accident to overcome which make their journey a little stressful.

The winner was Russ Taylor who is a local guy and a regular player at Asper's, which was great, and he will travel to Cardiff armed with a lovely aggressive game.

The invites to the pro's went out last weekend and I can now start to pass on the names of the players that have accepted. I am looking forward to seeing these guys play and if we can continue to attract payers of this calibre I will be over the moon.

Hendon Mob
Brian Wilson
Dave Colclough
Peter Costa
Marc Goodwin
Liam Flood
Roy Brindley
Tony G
Ken Lennaard
Christer Johansson
Harry Demetriou

The next online qualifier is on Sept 10th and there are small stakes satellites available every day. It would be lovely to have some Blonde's in the field to take on these great players.
