I've still not seen a replay, only live and then a couple of pics since. My instinct at the time was that he might have been a tad unlucky; looked a 50/50 and I don't think he 'did' him.
Obv the keeper being down for 10 minutes shows the serious nature of it and consensus seems to be it has to be a red regardless of intent.
Liverpool fans booing as he was stretchered off was a classy touch I thought.

I only ever played Sunday mornings, so no authority... Still, would have probably only been a yellow if you had previous in the game. Click to see full-size image. |

A not too disimilar reaction from us. 2 players 100% committed (thought Ederson did brilliantly - so fast coming out) and Mane so slightly on the wrong side of it in that fraction of a second. My lad had the pics up on twitter whilst we waiting and his phone was passed round with the consensus of sympathy for Mane but 100% red card. As I've heard countless times since on various media sources re the rules of the game "intent" is irrelevant. So, again 100% red card. http://www.soccer-blogger.com/2017/09/09/gif-sadio-mane-sent-off-vs-city-2017-video-mane-kicks-ederson/comment-page-1/#comment-214373

Watching live I didn't think it was red I thought mane would get there first it was 50/50 still think it's unlucky you want your player to go for it,shame for the game too it was shaping out to be a good contest:

Surprised by Klopp's tactics (or lack of them) after the red card? Being a goal down and man down is obv far from ideal, but it's not an automatic defeat with an hour still to play. It looks like they just gave up immediately, and Klopp didn't appear to do much to rectify the situation. It was a shame for the game, and it was also a shame for Edersons face and skull.

im wondering if any of our best starting back 5 could make the team for any other team in the top 6
Mignolet Clyne Moreno Matip Lovern
How about
Klavan TNT gomez Robertson
So where would you rank each player for their position against the top 6
Ill start with saying Mignolet is the 6th best keeper

I don't think any would make the back 5 of any of the other top six teams?
is that a bit harsh? I like Clyne for example but could I put him in ahead of walker/trippier/darmian/azpi and bellerin? I could not
and so on

He is ahead of darmian as he can't make the Utd team either
Harsh to have Clyde behind trippier as he hasn't played much either
Beyond that I can't think of a spot any of the back 5 could get into.
I love that he will give playing time to Gomez and TAA but we need some quality somewhere as well

I think Matip would get in the Arsenal back five, he's certainly better than Monreal as a CB, and Koscielny (left footed) would take that spot and Matip would slot in at the centre. Matip vs Otamendi is probably a push. I also think Milner would probably get decent game time for Mourinho at LB, especially in the tougher games. A team player who always gives 100% and rarely makes mistakes. Just what he'd want when parking the bus.

Coutinho on the bench tonight. Be interesting to see how the crowd react if he comes on.
Really hoping for a good performance from Liverpool tonight, and have had a modest investment on them winning.
Should be a great atmo tonight - the fans have waited a long time for this.
