Have you seen this story / video clip tony ??

http://bluffeurope.com/poker-news/en/Players-Brawl-at-New-Orleans-Casino_22302.aspx

We don't want to hear of similar at the big o hi lo fest !!!

No, had not seen that.

Crikey, red shirt did not half get stuck into him, didn't he?

Considering I assumed you had to be 65 years old (minimum) to play at Orleans, that's quite something. Never knew they had such a big cash game there, either. Guess they do for 11 months of the year.

The O8 games at Orleans are:

- Everyone checks their cards twice
- Everyone limps
- one person raises
- Everyone calls
- flop is irrelevant
- one person bets
- another calls
- one person folds
- Everyone looks confused (must be new)
- Everyone calls
- turn brings some form of draw in
- one bet
- one raise
- most people call
- river happens
- check check
- Everyone turns their cards over, looks at their cards, then the dealer, then other people's cards, the dealer again, then their own cards, push a few forward and hope to get a quarter of the pot.

It's fascinating stuff.

Tikay please write a book/autobiography I love your stories and the way you write

Ha, thanks engy.

I write shite, I'm afraid, but the topics I try to write about are quite interesting, or they are to me, anyway.

I just finished Vol 2 of Danny Baker Autobio.

He writes EXACTLY as he speaks, but the key thing is he has such a great range of adjectives, & he uses them so well.

Just one very carefully chosen adjective changes the nuances of a sentence completely.

He is also a very "up" person, so everything is bright & cheery, & he uses a lot of punchy adjectives to get that across. I'd give almost anything to write half as well as he does.

I did plan to do a little book, & I have got around half of it "framed out", & about 10% written, but whether it will ever see the light of day is another matter. I could actually write a book about the last 10 years alone, as it happens. Working for a poker site don't half put you in some weird spots, don't you worry about that.

Anyway, maybe I'll soon have time to concentrate on stuff like that. We shall see.

"Don't you worry about that" was Spud's fave saying. Spud was Danny Baker's Dad. See, I'm nicking his material already.

+1

For some reason I have gone pages back to see what Tony's plans are for Vegas. Mainly what he's playing and where he's staying and what else he intends to do, I probably have to go back a few more pages.

But the last page of writing and pictures has made my morning.

Ha, thanks Aaron, that's 50% of my audience that enjoy my writing.

I'll be writing a lot during the upcoming Vegas trip, though time pressures mean it's usually all a bit rushed, with no time to polish, so to speak.

General "Vegas" Blogs will have to go Next Door, but I'll link to them shamelessly, but my Vegas Stakers on blonde should get a report after here every event I play. Epic tales of aggressive derring-do, no doubt.

I absolutely love sitting in those games, huge stack of dollar chips in front of me - all in racks of course - & people watching. I can sit there for 4 hours & not win or lose $10, & still have a wonderful time.

Live poker is so much fun.

Don't know if you've seen it Tikay,  but a scientist has apparently invented a self healing concrete.

Nope, never heard of that, Rod.

However, the real problem with reinforced concrete is when the internal rebar gets accessed by water, rusts, expands, & "pops" or "spalls" the surface. This solution won't cure that, which is the real problem.

What did impress was this rather breathtaking throwaway line.......

but concrete has never been more popular than today, with China using more of the stuff in the last three years than the United States in the last century

That is, if true, extraordinary. Not sure how they would know, mind.

I shall stubbornly refuse to rise to Tal Bloke's bait.

Meanwhile, I went up to DTD on Saturday, nit of a mixed mission, had to see a few people about this & that, & played the Grand Prix thing to sort of half justify the long drive.

Can't recall enjoying an evening's poker quite so much in a very long time, I had two really lovely tables, all of whom were good fun & great company.

My first bullet lasted less than half an hour (50,000 chips....), when I chose the wrong moment to squeeze Mr Loosey Goosey with my A-K, & he turned up with Kings. It sounds a dumb play so early, & probably was, but it was a limpathon, & he was (wisely) squeezing a lot, & had yet to show any hand of reasonable merit. I did feel a tad silly, dusting off 50,000 chips so lightly. If there is a positive, at least I found my aggro boots.

My next bullet went rather better, & I soon had - "chipped up" is the phrase I believe - 200,000, & was 2 or 3 times average for 5 very enjoyable hours.

Then, a succession of hands went the wrong way, 4 or 5 in a row, & that pout me back in the pack.

I found a lovely spot with my A-Q v 9-9, which was a sort of squeeze over squeeze, originally it had been 5 way & I forced out a load of dead money, but an 8 high flop was less than ideal. I just dribbled after that, barely won a pot.

Extinction came mercifully swiftly, when my late position raise with......

...meshed rather nicely with this flop.......

 three clubs

So I had all sorts going for me, & piled the chips in happily, but I never got a get.

Start the car Jeeves, start the car.

Rather pleasingly, I bumped into Hold Foldy at DTD.

She's a smashing girl, really lovely, & we go back a way.

Then I bumped into a guy I've not seen for 7 or 8 years, I did some filming for Next Door at his house back in the day, his name is John Gilbert, he is "Aqualtis" on blonde, & I forget his Next Door alias.

Anyway, turns out they are now a couple, with plans to make the big step quite soon I believe.

Chuffed to bits for them both. Michelle (Holdy) has a son named Tariq, & John has a boy & a girl, who both probably have names too.

So, Sunday morning, the e-Mails got a bit lively.

Doubt either of them will see this, but I am so pleased for both of them.

Ahh, don't we just love a bit of romance? Not for me, mind, can't see me ever doing that love thing, oh no.

I mentioned that, during the Vegas trip, I plan to take the Amtrak Surfliner down the Pacific Coast, from Los Angeles to San Diego, stopping overnight en route at Oceanside. ($70, Business Class, how cheap is that?).

It is all booked now, direct with Amtrak.

Last week, as you may have read, there was a terrible train wreck (they call them wrecks in the USA) in Philadelphia, on an Amtrak service, & 2 days later, this e-Mail arrived from Amtrak. Network Rail take note.

Subject: A message from Amtrak

A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT AND CEO JOE BOARDMAN ON TRAIN 188

The derailment of Northeast Regional Train 188 was a terrible tragedy that we are responding to with every resource we have available.
The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation to determine the cause of the incident, and Amtrak is providing full
cooperation.

With truly heavy hearts, we mourn those who died. Their loss leaves holes in the lives of their families and communities. On behalf of
the entire Amtrak family, I offer our sincere sympathies and prayers for them and their loved ones. Amtrak takes full responsibility and
deeply apologizes for our role in this tragic event.

We recognize that for everyone onboard the train, including those who suffered injuries, the healing process may be long. Within 24 hours
of the incident, Amtrak set up a Family Assistance Center in Philadelphia to work closely with the family of passengers and crew on the
train. We are also working with the individuals and families affected by this event to help them with transportation, lodging, and of
course, medical bills and funeral expenses.

Amtrak is ever grateful to the City of Philadelphia—its first responders who bravely worked in difficult conditions, including the dark
of night, to rescue and provide aid to hundreds; its hospital personnel who went into full alert as patients arrived at emergency rooms;
its officials who quickly implemented a response plan; and its citizens who opened their doors to offer assistance.

Although our current focus is on the passengers and employees affected by this incident and the resulting service disruption along the
Northeast Corridor, we must also take time to learn from this event. Passenger railroading is at its core about people; the safety of our
passengers and employees was, is and always will be our number one priority. Our goal is to fully understand what happened and how we can
prevent a similar tragedy from occurring in the future. We will also continue to focus on completing Positive Train Control implementation
in the Northeast Corridor by December of 2015.

Thank you for your support of America's Railroad during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Joe Boardman

President and Chief Executive Officer
