And even more good news for the British warriors as Nick Slade recieves a timely up courtest of the rather wild Johnny Jensen.

Nick made it 1,800 with A-J and Jensen re-raised to 6,100.

Knowing he had to get this one right, Nick decided that he was ahead and moved the lot in for 9,500 in total.

Jensen had a (virtually) obligatory call to make and was forced to reveal his T-5o.

Slade's hand stood up and now he's up and running around the 20k mark.

See, never mess with Private Slade.

If something good has happened to DC, something bad has happened to Jonas Helness.  He didn't look best pleased to be on around 5k after having a very good start to the tournament.  He's got the last seven hands to do something about it - Thomas Kremser announced when the clock hit 10 mins that they would be playing Seven more hands instead of waiting for the minutes to tick away.  Interesting alternative.  I think I like it.

The last hand of the night has been played (pretty early finish, huh?) and the bags have been pulled out.

Just at the death, Brent Taylor lost a 15k pot to a fellow American with Nines vs. A-Q (An Ace hit the Turn), but he's still a massive chipper with around 75k, quite probably the overnight chip leader.

Hot on his heels, however, are the likes of Jonas Helness with 50k, Anton Smolyanskiy with 60k and Peter Fischer, who is currently Johnny Lodden's neighbour with 70k.

As the last hand was dealt, the board claimed there were 89 players left with an everage stack of 22,471.

Thanks.

Waiting for the chip counts, hopefully they will arrive soon, but the whole bagging process is always surprisingly lengthy.

So we'll be on later when the counts have been delivered, but for now...

P.S. I find it unfair that the Ladbrokes press suite comes equipped with a table football table.  We could at least get air hockey in Dortmund...I'll have a word with John Duthie.

Maybe it did. But without the distractions, your coverage is FAR SUPERIOR.

I object to the lack of photographic coverage of the buffet.

Cookie photos tomorrow please.

Thanks for the support everyone.  Having a great time out here, even though these Scandies love to re-raise with bugger-all off-suit all the time.

The only time it was folded round to the BB, was when I had AA!!  I hadn't even looked at the cards until everyone folded...

Anyway, was down to the felt, and managed to double up with a push with K2o which stood up to JTo.

Then I doubled up again soon after when a big stack raised, and Frode Fagerli pushed all-in with his 6,000 or so.  I had  , and pushed my remaining 7,000-odd in.  Fortunately, the big stack folded, and Frode turned over his  , and my queen kicker prevailed.

So I somehow managed to survive Day 1, and finished with 15,700.  Still short-stacked, but not completely desperate when I get back to it on Friday.

Just met Snoops and Jen for the first time and had a drink and a chat with them.  Really nice to speak to them in the flesh, and I think they both deserve a big pat on the back for their updates.

It'll also be good to have tomorrow off, and a chance to chill out and watch other playing instead.  Looking forward to a good kip now...

Thanks again for your support, and I'll do my best again on Friday - and hopefully double-up early so I can hang around for a while.

Cheers.

A bit of luck, and a nice double-up and I'll be able to play some poker!  Who knows?  Already got further than I expected, especially from where I was with a few hours to go.
