Hello and welcome agan to Dusk Till Dawn for the latest renewal of the now twice montlhy DTD £300 Deepstack.

The event is £60,000 guaranteed, as usual, and should beat that comfortably despite the competing attractions of the EPT events in London and the Ryder Cup.


I'll be updating all weekend with my new colleague Patrick "pleno1" Leonard. A blonde, a journalist and a Geordie. Who looks like Daniel Negraneau. Good luck to him, and I hope he enjoys it

I'm accompanying Mr Colin Young to Vienna for the Chili poker deepstack Oct 14th, to make sure he doesnt have it too easy against all the French contingent, shud be playing some of the GUKPT Brighton events if only the £300 on Tuesday.... and since my outburst a few weeks ago regarding the well loved Dreenie and Ade, I will be meeting Jason Herbert for peace talks and soft drinks at the bar before the tourney starts!

First pot I saw was on Micky Wernicks table. I was ushered over by a guy not in the hand.

Nigel Ventre was leading out 5100 into the 3000 (ish) pot on a board of  5c 9d Kh Kd 9h board and was called pretty quickly by John Sadler.

Nigel turned over  Ks 7s and Sadler mucked.

Jon flat an early position raise with 55. 2 others joined the party and they saw a rather toasty (for Jon anyways) JJ5 flop. Checked round to btn who bet 250. SB makes it 600 and Jon 3bet to 1250.

Btn elects to fold and sb who quickly makes it 4k. Jon obviously Jams and the SB makes the "easy" call with AJ. Brickety brick on the turn and river and Jon's stack goes north of 20k.

I arrived at table 33 and saw Vinan Mistry betting 2600 into a 2200 pot on a turn of  Aspades 6h 7h 3c

His opponent Ricardo Richard Fuller ummed and arred and decided calling was his best option with around 4600 behind.

The 5h river completed everything but this didn't put off Mistry. He nonchalantly chucked 1 purple chip in (5000) signalling to the dealer that he was putting Fullar all in.

Flush?  Enquired Fuller, before putting his remaining chips in the middle. "Nah 2 pair" announces Mistry. Fuller turned over  4d 5d for the turned straight and doubled up to around 15k.

5 minuted later I strolled over giving the DTD girls abit of the eye as I plonked myself on the railings behind Nutt as she bet 275 on a  7c Qs 4c flop.

Her opponent called and led 475 on the  Aspades turn. Nutt quickly called.

The river was the  Kc and her opponent decided he would try 1k. Quickly (less than 10 seconds) Nutt called. They both nodded and shrugged as if to say I have nothing you show me, no you show me first. Nutt decided to turn her  8d 8c over and her opponent mucked. I've joined the fanclub.

I get to table 25 to see Jon Lundy raising the btn to 300. The wonderfully named Giovanni Vaccarella decided to 3bet to 1500 and Jon made the call.

Vaccarella led for 1475 and Lundy didn't think for long before shoving for 24k (Vaccarella had 6k behind)

Vaccarella thought for longer than 3 seconds with  Kc Ks , I dunno maybe he was fistpumping inside. Jon said "oops" before turning over  5s 6s. The God's did at least give Vacarella a sweat on the 6d but Lundy couldn't hit his miracle 1 outer and lost about 30% of his stack.

I reach table 23 with Paul Ho raising an unopened pot from the btn to 375 (blinds are 75/150 now) both Dharmesh Patel and Micheal Sharkey decided to see a flop of 7c 9s 3s

Check, check, check around to the  Ac turn, Sharkey bet 525 when checked to and Paul Ho opted for a call before Patel got out the way.

I get to table 36 to see John Clark limp utg, Richard Horton raised to 525 out of a 10k stack and Adrienna Nutt called from the C/O with around 3k behind. Both the bb/utg called and we went to a rather drawy board.

 4h 8d Td it got checked round to Nutt who shoved for her remaining chips. Everybody folded until it got back to Horton. Enquiring "do you have any of that" swivrling his finger in the direction of the board, Nutt replied "Yes I am actually pretty big", debatable.

Horton decided that Nutt must be drawing and called with  Ahrt Qd. Nutt turned over the drawtastic  9d Jd and promptly got there on the 7d turn.

Jon Mfkin Lundy (yes this is his real name, ask facebook") shove with bottom pair a couple of levels ago just helped him out after his straight was paid off by one pair. Lundy's stack is approaching 30k and is amongst the chip leaders.

Adrienna Nutt has just walked past me and regged for the £50 f/o which I assume means she has been eliminated.

Tom "RED-DOG" McCready is a late entry, his canine nostrils sniffing out an overlay and the value from about 40 miles away

However, he plonked himself down at his table, saw himself out of position to Mr Lundy who must be chip leader or thereabouts and announced

The grinder: Gaz Walker has been in "no big pots" but has increased his stack by more than 50% in the last level and is sitting on 24500.

Paul Ho has been sitting tight all day waiting for spots, when Ian Berrie opened the cut off to 1200, Paul slid his 10900 stack in from the button. Berrie tank folded and Paul added 10% to his stack.

Meanwhile I get called over to table 11 by Anon, who informed my Gaz Walker was an animal. "An animal"? I prompted for more info.. "Yeah man he's raising all the time and if anyone raises he just raises them! Animal".

The next hand Chris Miller opened the cut off to 875, The Animal decided that he would pounce on his prey and 3bet to 1850, Miller called.

Gaz showed his bite was equal to his bark and fired 2175 on the  Ahrt 9h Kd flop which Miller ran away from.

I get to table x and see a board of  Ahrt 7c 6s Aspades and Vince Calenti is betting 2300 into the 5000 pot. James Murray is the only caller and we go to a  9c river.

Miller quickly check folds to Calenti's 4600 bet and "Celtic" shows  7h 7d for a boat. He is sitting prettily with 33,000.

Elsewhere David Nicholson has just added 7k to his stack rivering a full house with Ahrt Qh against a short stacked Steve Brown who was holding Kd Js. All the money went in pre-flop. David has 23,000 which is almost nigh on average.

Ian Bertram from Newcastle ran QQ into AA and was left with 5k. He grinded his way back to a playable stack and is now sitting above average with 27k.

Another guy who lost a big pot was James Atkin. The online grinder / rapper got his money in good for a 30k pot with 1010 against his opponents 55. The board ran xxxx5 and James was left with under 20k. James has since shoved a couple of times and added to his stack.

Atkin, "I'm used to playing with 8bbs, I play sngs all the time so its fine. To be honest I'm not very good with more than 20 big blinds but to run normally once would be ok".

Edit: James has just been eliminated. Running his  Ahrt Qh suited into Anon's  9c 9d and not improving.

After a raise to 2700 utg, David Nicholson made it 7000, Justin Davenport in seat 6 decided it was a good spot to cold 4bet and he made it 19k. On table 11, Hassan Irfan opened the pot pre to 3300, Robert Barnett decided to do a flat call and we went to a  Ks 4h 3c flop.

It went checkidy check and Barnett checked again on the  Ac river, Irfan decided to bet this time and it was to the effect of 4400, call by Barnett.

The river bought the  8c and Barnett checked again for a third time, this triggered Irfan to bet 14k (enough to put Barnett all in) and he went into the tank.

He dwelled and dwelled and eventually came to the conclusion that he was beat and mucked, Irfan (trying to impress me obv) flipped the  Js Th ball after ANON had told the table that Irfan definitely had KK. Nice read sir.

Going into the last 90 minutes of today's play. Been super impressed with a lot of people this afternoon, Neil Harvey showed again what a good player he is and got unlucky in a couple of large pots. Jon Lundy showed he has the biggest balls in Nottingham and Dwayne Quinn from Swindon has impressed everybody. There isn't any runaway leaders at the moment which IMO is a good thing as it makes play interesting with a lot of meta-game on certain tables.

I predict there will be around 25 players come back tomorrow and its shaping up to be a fantastic final day.

First impressions of DTD are very good. The tournament has ran very smoothly and on the dot which is a refreshing change. The tables are spacious but there is a buzzing atmosphere around the place. The cash games look very juicy and the chips are the nuts. If you haven't been to DTD yet I suggest you sign up to DTD and have a go at the satellites online. I'll definitely be back.

After winning the monstorus flip against "lildave" around an hour ago, Justin Davenport has lost a small chunk of his stack.

I got to the table with "JD" opening to 3300 in EP, Peter Regan found  Aspades 9c in LP and decided his 14k was a good stack size to jam. JD called quickly and tabled  Qd Qh.

Folded round to Mark Wilson in the SB who shoved 20k, Darren Rice peaked down at  5h 5s and sigh called. He was up against Rice's  Ks 2h

A board of  Ahrt Ac 7c 6s  8h and a fist-pump later and Wilson was heading for the exit. Rice ecstatic that his hand held is up to 60k which is above the 54k average.

Folded to Gaz Walker in the SB, makes it 3600, the BB decides to add 10k on that and Gaz jams for 41k. Gaz flipped  Aspades 9c and was against the  8h 8d of Dharmesh Patel.

The  Kc 4s 6s flop was good for Patel but the cruel  9d put Walker into a commanding lead and upto 85k and in the top 10 chip-stacks.

I get to table 14 to see Gaz Walker flicking in the extra from the BB after Nathan Watson had minraised the cut off to 3600.

The flop was an uninspiring  Kh 4s 2d or was it?

Gaz nonchalantly checked and was faced with a 4100 bet, Gaz pondered before putting 5 on top and looking confused Watson flicked in the extra for a call.

The turn was the  Jd and the action slowed way down as it went check check.

The Kd paired the board and it went check/check.

Gaz sighed and flipped  Kc 8c, Watson laughed and mucked.

We are entering the final level of the day. Which is 1000/2000/200.

Jason Davenport just added an extra chunk to his stack when he found  Ad Kd in the BB his opponent shoved and then mucked as Davenport paired his Ace. Davenport is now in the top 3 chippies with around 140k

The river was the  Qc and Tran decided to lead 15400. William quickly moved his stack forward and then decided otherwise and mucked his hand, much to the amusement of the table.

Table 12 is where the action is at the moment.

Choung raised it up from utg+1 to 5500 and both Calenti (from the button) and Quinne from the BB called. The flop came   Ac Qh Ts seemingly scary for all three it got checked round to the  Tc. Again Dwayne and Choung decided to check, however, Calenti moved up the gears firing 8k. Surprisingly both "checkers" elected to call and we saw the  5c fall on the river.

It got checked round to Calenti once again and after announcing "I can't win if I don't bluff" fired 19k into the already large pot. Dwayne asked how much Vinny had behind before putting in the call. Choung sigh folded and Dwayne's  Ahrt 4h was good enough to scoop, Vinny announcing jack high. Very good bet, very good call. Dwayne has moved upto about 150k whilst Vinny drops to 20k.

UTG Greg Garrett opened to 6k. UTG+1 Nathan Watson counted out a 3bet to 15,700 before deciding to just jam his 60k stack, Gaz Walker folded a big hand on the button before Garrett flipped  Qc Ac as he folded.

I then move across to table 13 where Ian Bertram was jamming his miniscule 10k stack with  Ac 3s. Ian Berrie snapped it off with  Td Ts but unfortunately for him the board ran out  5c 9c 2s Aspades 4s

In EP Dharmesh Patel shoved his 22k stack. OTB Greg Garrett decided to ISO shove and made it 100k, SB Nathan Watson called too and we now had a gigantic pot.

Looking like a great line up for Day Two though......

A shortstacked Vinny Calenti got his tiny stack in the middle with  Js Th two places down Dwayne Quinne found  Aspades Jh and called. Vinny spiked the  Tc and doubled up. Next hand Choung raised to 5500 from the cut off, Vinny again shoved and Choung folded. Vinny is upto 30k and is battling hard.

I moved over to table 11 where tall Anon raised to 4500 and was flatted from the btn and from the big blind. The flop was  4s 5c 6h and it was checked to tall Anon who fired 7700, the button got out the way as the bb decided to call, the 9c fell on the turn and the bb decided to fold to tall Anon's Jam.

So play has ended and the bagging up process begins. 24 made it to Day Two, and 17 poaid so the first level tomorrow will be crucial.

Folded to our chip leader Randall in the sb and he pumps it up to 5200, Jamil in the big blind throws in the extra 2800 and we go to a flop of  Qs 7s 9d.

Both players check and then Randall leads 11k on the  Kd turn card, call from Jamil. The river was the  4c and Randall decided to bet 10.5k perhaps offering Jamil a ticket to valuetown. Jamil contemplated a raise and counted out 32300 before electing to fold.

Randall is upping the aggression and is looking like a cert for the final table.

After Greg Garrett opened to 5500 Christopher Brion decided to shove his remaining 40k chips. Garrett snapped called and found himself in a dominating position with his  Kh Kc miles ahead of the  3c 3d of Brion.

Just to rub salt into the wounds, Garrett decided to flop a set and sent Brion to the rail.

RED-DOG has 90,000.Pushed off one pot by Will Folwell he's looking a little frustrated. However still got 45x bb, plenty of patience and plenty of time

Approaching the bubble play has really slowed down. Dharmesh Patel opened to 10k out of a 35k stack but folded when Mark Yaffe decided to shove. Yaffe showed  Ad Qh. Patel nodded and sighed when looking down at his 8bb stack.

Daniel Wong has been getting bullied by Greg Garrett having to fold to last months winner's 3bet shoves. This time Wong opens to 5200 in early position, Garrett once again pushed forward his purples signalling he was all in, without even thinking Anon flashed me 1010 and folded. Wong snapped and preyed to the poker God's (demanded may be a better word) that he should "hold this oneeeeeee time" flipping over  Ad Ac Garrett laughed and turned over  Ahrt Kc.

The flop came down  Ts Jc 2h giving Garrett a gutshot and Wong started to warn God that he better not get up to his usual tricks. The turn and river bricked and echoes of "yessssssss" went around DTD as he doubled up to around 100k.

From early position William Follwell shoved his 50k stack into the middle. Simon Mitchell decided to reshove for around 60k and Tom McCreedy also called from the SB.

Tom was the largest stack and his opponents were drawing to 5 outs between them.

The flop was a safe  9c 7s 4s but the  Ad got ooo's and aah's from the rail and fist-pumps from Mitchell. He faded the 4 outer on the river and increased his stack to close to 140k.

William Follwell is our unlucky bubble boy. He has shown us fantastic bravery and aggression throughout both days and is definitely one to watch for the future. Unlucky mate.

OK, so I know him well, but one thing you have to say, he has a fantastic temperament to play poker.

We are now on a break. On the last hand before the interval Simon Mitchell opened to 6k UTG, both Thomas "Red-Dog" McCreedy and David Levi called.

All three checked on all three streets as the board ran out  Qd Td Ts  3d  6h and Thomas's  8c 8d scooped.

I get to table 12 to see Greg Garrett opening the pot to 8800 from middle position. Dwayne Quinn decided to flat call in position and everybody else got out the way. The flop came down..


 6s 7s 5h, Greg decided to check raise Dwayne's bet of 13.500 to 30,000. Dwayne instantly shoved and Garrett called! Pot in the middle was over 370k which is well over final table average.

Goin to have a punt an say mr Tran will win this !

On the journey to DTD I predicted that Simon Mitchell and Dwayne Quinn would tangle abit as they are both very aggresive and have big stacks. Thus far everything has been very cagey and not much 3betting going on. Until the last hand.

Dwayne opened the button to 8000 and Mitchell elected to 3bet to 21800, Dwayne tossed in the call.

The flop came down  Aspades 8d Qs and Mitchell decided to check, Dwayne shoved for about 2x pot effective and Mitchell went into the tank. He looked at the sky, looked at Dwayne, looked at the board, before watching Drogba diving on the T.V which seemed to be the deciding factor in him folding. Mitchell is still on 100k whilst Dwayne is on the dizzy heights of 400k.

The board was a very kind (for Anon)  Qs Ts 6c. The turn didn't bring any backdoor draws for "Lucky" who looked like he might be back in Luton sooner than he hoped. However "Lucky" by name, "Lucky" by nature and he spiked the  8h on the river to double up to around 170k.

Anon was left with 5k and has since been eliminated.

We are down to 12 which means we are playing 6 handed, will this benefit the online players such as Dwayne Quinn and Simon Mitchell or will experience come out on top and see Thomas McCreedy or Alan McBride victorious?

Action was folded around to Simon Mitchell in the hi-jac with blinds now 3k/6k with a 600 ante, Mitchell decided to shove his 65,000 stack. David Levi announced he was all in too from the SB and tabled  Ad Kd. He was slightly behind to Mitchell's  2h 2s but ran out as a gigantic favourite on the  Qd 9d Jd flop. Bricks later and Mitchell was eliminated in 12th position.

He hit his full house on the river and was checked too. He put a value bet out instead of shoving. Mitchell flat called.

On the last hand before the break Dwayne Quinn opened to 17,000 UTG, Choung decided to flat call which prompted David Levi to shove for 125,000. Announcing that he had "a made hand" Dwayne considered the call before folding, which set Choung to do into the tank for about two minutes before folding.

Levi had begged for a call midhand and tabled  Qs Qh and in disgust that he hadn't been called.

Overall, the play is very cagey. We are seeing alot of small stack shoves but not many calls. Commenting that "only top four was worth playing for" it was folded around to Daniel Wong in the SB, he announced fold before tabling  2s 2h telling the table he didn't want to put his tournament life on a pair. Dwayne tabled  Kd Td and told Danield he would "probably have to call".

The break is over and the cards are back in the air.

We havn't lost a player for close to an hour now. The chipleaders are adding to their big stacks whilst the short stacks are getting dangerously low.

Choung is a player who doesn't shy away from a pot. Blind on blind he calls Dwayne Quinns sb raise. Dwayne fires 8k at the  Ahrt Td 2h and Choung flicks in the call.

The Qd slowed down proceedings as both players checked before Quinn fired three purple chips (15,000) on the  6d river. Choung called without hesitation and was shown  7d 4d for a backdoor flush. Dwayne Quinn is our commanding chip leader and my tip from 30 out.

Danield Wong is having a great time, singing/dancing/chanting he is loving the atmosphere. David Levi questioned his hyperactivity and Wong told him he was just "avin abit of banter". Wong just 3bet Choung's 20,000 button raise to 55,000 and showed  Js Qc as Choung chucked his cards into the muck.

Folded round to the small blind and Justin Davenport and he called with  Js Jh. Quinn sighed and flipped  Aspades 9c and was a 30/70 underdog going to the flop.

Next hand it is folded round to the two big stacks in the blinds and Randall raised it up to 28k, JD - call.

Flop  7c 2s 6c, Randall leads 40,000 and JD slides out lots of purples to make it 120,000 (over a third of his stack). Randall folded and JD flipped over for  Qs Td.

Alan McBride is telling everybody not to worry and he is actually pretty handy at negotiating. Daniel Wong has been an absolute character throughout the whole weekend and has kept everybody in good spirits whilst both Justin Davenport and Mark Randall have shown non stop aggression and a play to win mentality that has impressed all.

Luckily the stacks aren't too shallow and there's still a little bit of play left.
