I have shockingly pinched the model of Dan's stake although, I am clearly a low ball alternative, had some trepidation on puting this up but as I think I have something to offer, you got to try in this world.  I enjoyed following Dan's sweats and I think these threads give something to the community.

Background

My name is Chris Roberts, I am 31, play in Edinburgh and most of the Scottish venues.  I have been staked on here before and backed several others and have always ensured financial transactions have been handled quickly and effectively.  I am a financial professional by trade (pensions consultant) and the stake would be run in my spare time but with consistent volume.  I hope this also provides an air of grimm avoidance, I am FSA regulated and financial slurs against my name would be terminal in my business.

I have been playing poker for 10 plus years but only the last couple have I began to put it some real online volume.  I concentrate on low stakes MTT's ($1-$11) and play basically solely on stars.  I <3 the game but due to bad bankroll management tend to find I am unable to play for periods of the month which is frustrating as I think I can comfortably beat the base games to which I play.

I tend to 4-6 table and would expect to play around 20 games in an evening session and probably 30-40 at the weekend.  I will speak more about game selection later.  I do not presently use HUD or keep any table notes, which I will be bringing in as part of this stake.  I would assume this should improve results and may make the stats I have amassed slightly more impressive.  Also backed I will not be playing sessions tired or for quick kill time so the ITM I would expect to comfortably increase.

Stats

As mentioned above BRM is an issue and therefore it is best to split out the Bronze and Silver stard from OPR as I do not intend to be staked/play bigger games:

I approximate this as a profit of $3,680.57 over 1969 games with an average buy in of $5.91.  I cant post the picture but the Poker Stats breakdown will show profit of this order up to stakes of $40.

I know 1969 games is not a huge sample but I hope this demonstrates a level of aptitude for the games and the ability.  If I have extracted this information incorrectly then let me know but I believe this to be accruate.

Proposal

Is to play $1 to $11 MTT on stars.  This will be my sole play on stars, I will keep only stake money on the site and therefore my play in all areas can be tracked and watched as I can appreciate my previous BRM could be an issue for individuals.  I want to be as transparent as possible.  Any investor is welcome to view the account upon request and I will update when I am playing, totals at the end of the session and final table sweats.

The stake will include the Storm, Big $11, and the last chance $11 million satellites.  The remainder will likely be $2.20 to $5.40 as I will be looking at keep ABI to around $4.  Obviously the previous 3 have the possibility of major scores.  I have ran top 100 in storm twice this year, including 50th two weeks ago.  I have satellited into the million 5 times I believe and have cashed at least twice (250th is best thus far).

My Game selection includes only tournaments with $1k gtd+.  I open up the best available 4-6 tournaments and replace each bust with the next best game.  I do not play above 6 although if things develop well, my game may develop with it.  I do not play rebuys with the exception of the $1 3*times turbo due to the huge potential score for small outlay.

Bankroll

I am looking at an ABI of $4 and think $800 would be a suitable opening roll being 200 buy ins.  Obviously the fields in these are huge and variance is pretty high, so a reload may be required although, hopefully we can get off to a flyer.

Key points

I will typically play at least 3 sessions per week
I will be aiming for around 400 games per month but looking at 200 as a minimum

Flexibility, shot taking and the nitty gritty

The stake will be rigid to the OP.  I think that is important to keep BRM in check.  If things develop well and people think increasing the stake or ABI is a good idea then it will be discussed and the OP changed.  At Micromillions/SCOOP/WCOOP times, discussions may be brought but these are special circumstances.

When going in profit I will split the money up and transfer it across but only if it is a suitable amount. If I am in profit for $50 on the day after getting out of MU I think it's a waste of time sending it across so as a rule anything less than $100 profit after MU I will leave in the account.

I do not have the results Dan has and cannot justify 50/50.  My suggested starting point is 70/30 in the backers favour.  When returns begin the deal will alter as follows:

$800 returned           65/35
$1600 returned         60/40
$2400 returned         55/50
$3200 returned         50/50

If reloads are required, I drop down, so this will be a pyramid system, it incentivises me to improve and keep grinding.  I will not go below 70/30 as kids gotta eat.

Happy to discuss if anyone thinks this is overlly weighted in my favour but it seems fair based on what I have seen and the work I will be undertaking.

If you decide that you want to drop out without the bankroll going bust then I will require 48 hours notice to give time to find another backer. This is because if I am one backer short regardless of percentage it means I can't play as it is an admin nightmare. If I bust the roll it's likely that it may take a day or two to replace stakers as it takes time to contact people etc. For people who do not want to reload for whatever reason can sell their MU privately at whatever deal they want, I do not want to profit by people withdrawing and the MU being wiped as it can often leave a nasty taste.

70/30 is,a really bad deal for you. Yesmou may not be as good as Dan, but you're playing 1-4 dollar tournaments you're room will be as big if not way bigger. Do,you reall want to play a 1$ tournament when you have 30% of yourself?

Reloading is not ideal, would prefer to have a significant buffer, with field sizes and top heavy structure, I think it's needed.

I play for enjoyment, it keeps me off the streets, from a life roll point of view the ability to steadily play low stakes MTTs all month is massively +ve for me. I have structured the pyramid so if I hammer the games I get to 50/50 which is were I want to be. It is also an advert for what I can do, should I wish to get up the levels!

Thanks everyone for the interest, very much appreciated, updated the OP with the "team" great turn out by the red contingent, all we needed was a Dog and an Armi and we had the whole set!!!!  I have also noted the reserve list and thank you also.

I have PM'd bank details for everyone who asked, does anyone else need them?  If you confirm, pokerstars are doing a bonus award thing this week, whenever I deposit it says if I chuck in more I will get an instant $ reward.  Therefore I will wait for all the bank money, say I am depositing less, and hopefully get offered a little bonus to get the roll started! no idea how it works, it is pretty sporadic!

Starting wise this has sold out a little quicker than I thought (which is great news), I have an exam on Monday (Pensions Law...fun) and therefore will begin in earnest on Tuesday as I need to be focused on the book.  I am off Tuesday to Tuesday so will be available for high volume during this period, interspersed by probably playing 2 levels of the GPS!

From this point, I would likely play 2-3 evening sessions and 1 weekend session a week, and the thread will be updated whenever I am in play!

Tonight I will be playing the Storm, Big $11 and Last Chance Million Sat.  Playing the GPS satellites on DTD and it seems daft not to play these 3!  Wont be on a full session just the 3, first grind will be Tuesday night as mentioned.

Before we get started just want to note down how the pyramid system works incase there is any confusion.

The first $800 returned to stake will be at 70/30, this being $800 profit, so 560$ backers and $240 to me.  Obviously unless I bink one this is likely to be split over a few payments.  It will then move to 65/35 for the next $800 profit and so on.  I will note the total profit and pyramid stage so this is clear.  If a big score is encountered and therefore two levels+ are moved, then the return is staggered i.e. if I was returning $2k, $800 would be at one level, $800 at the next level and $400 at the next.  If I need to reload, thats $800 off profits and I go down a level in the same way.  So basically if I win the million tonight, most of it will be returned at 50/50! :) The deal is capped at 50/50 and 70/30.

Let me know if thats not clear or causes any issues.  I am concerned the OP wasn't crystal clear on this point and don't want that.  The set up is designed to make sure you have banked a reasonable return before I revert to a better deal.  Lets do this......

Big $11 lost A10 to KQ on a A J 10 flop....cold much!  Million sat shoved AK with an average stack BvB and was called off by a similar stacked J8, we were dead by turn.  Chucked in the big $8.80 and near bubbled!  Not playing any other apart from a GPS sat on my own dime, so this has almost my undivided attention.

Standard jam, I think if you have thoughts that this is a 'terrible play' you need to seriously look into short-stack shoving/folding ranges. Either that or you're being very results orientated just because you've walked into QQ and KK. Either way, i'd advise looking into it.

Also i'd advise chucking in some 45/90/180-man SnGs or something into your schedule, just because they're lower variance....  playing just comps with 1000's of runners in could get a bit demoralising as it's pretty hard to realise your long-term EV in them. Plus we all love just making a few FTs regardless of what's up top.

Thanks, I guess was sort of results orientated and a little sarcastic with everyones favourite thread lol, out of interest how much before the A10 becomes a min click rather than a jam?  14-15BB? 

On the 180 mans I would need to work on my ranges and probably get some coaching on the games, as its not really my bag.  I am tangling with averages 2000 runners but one decent FT and the roll is back, so you lose $50-$100 dollars on a bad day but you dont risk a $200-$300 brick day which volume grinding the 180s can do.  See how it goes but all feedback gratefully received

I didnt mean grinding the 180s just on their own, I just meant play 1 or 2 in your schedule so it's not just massive field comps, more sweats etc. There's not really much different strat involved compared to the stuff you're currently playing.

As for the ATo, i'd probably be jamming up to 13bb, 14-22bb is a kinda grey area... some would fold with 14-22bb UTG, others would r/f. It depends a bit on other stacks at the table, if you're going to get peeled a load etc. I mostly play $20+ MTTs where you're going to get a min-open through quite a lot out of 16bb say UTG, so I can r/f some stuff, but in some of the softer comps I play i'm generally jamming/folding UTG with anything <18bb (unless i've got it, lol balance...)

For example in this hand if you were playing 17bb i'd probably min-open and call vs seats 2,3,7 (possibly 1), but fold to the rest if they jam. As you're playing 6 tables you should be able to build up a reasonable idea of which players are capable of jamming light and which will be really nutted, you get some real extremes in these comps

We are off and running from 1pm today! Playing at least 2 entries at MTOPS 1-4, should be fun! Will structure other games around it (Storm, Big $11 and Milli Sat for sure), moved $50 to FTP to throw at the MTOPS so fingers crossed!  <3 Sundays

Nothing exciting thus far treble average in big $11 and double average post late reg in MTOPS #3....ran final 27 of a hyper earlier and silly deep in a $2 6 max, still fresh so long way to go!  MTOPS are amazing, looking forward to #4 starting shortly!

Played MTOPS 5 aswell, my word 300 chips is pretty odd, will be staying well clear of those in the future.

Roll is at $625 between the two sites.  Played for 13 hours with a lot of $11 tournies so always a danger of an expensive day, could have been a lot better, ran deep a load but could have been worse as had two or three $20-$40 dollar cashes with cover some buy ins!  Got two $1 rebuys running which may save the day and then its bed time.  Will be playing tomorrow night, just an early evening session though, will aim for sweats.

Back home safe and sound, got a good feeling about today, dominos is on route and we are about to start....clearly if we brick today I may have to suggest a reload, will post some stats and PM all investors to discuss options.

I chucked in $50 to get the free PCA Sat ticket, as stake covers all Stars play if I did do something silly like win a package its on stake.  I am likely to use that $50 to a few entries at the MTOPS main event, as with roll couldnt really justify a tournament of $15 (FML).  Will treat it as a free roll to investors so for clarity it does count even though its outside stake scope.

I assume no issues there as its a freeroll and off we go.....

We ended the day with $33 so not the complete wipe out I feared!

I am a bit disappointed to be down to the reload stage.  I promise to do 200-300 games which I have exceeded.  I confirmed that I expected to up my ITM % which has been done but unfortunately the nature of the games and size of the fields means you are reliant on final tables results to avoid losing days.  The min cashes do nothing really up until the final few places.

I will no longer play any on Tilt after MTOPS, I found multi clienting upset my rhythm a little, it is not something I was used to do doing.  Also the variance in MTOPS was massive due to the fields.  On the flip side we did run 200 ish out of 23000 in event 3 so we could have been talking about big scores, so I think it was a worthwhile shot.

Going forward, I will be looking at game selection, trying to play more non turbos for which I think edges are enhanced at the lower stakes.

I would ask investors to confirm their views on reloading, see if we can get started.  I have a weekend away so plenty time to consider.  I am happy to provide account access if anyone wishes to check my figures etc.  I have staked people using stars $ during this and there are related desposits to match the amounts paid and all this is pretty clear from my transaction history.  Also like some feedback on how to report going forward, do people want to see more hands?  I do not post as nobody asks, but happy to adapt as required.

Obviously only if I hail mary one of the last 3-4 tournaments....

Looking at the play to date, I think I am about $800 up on regular games and $1200 down on turbos! That is pretty ridiculous, could be variance as haven't finaled a turbo but have top 20'd numerous times and obviously need FT's to make real money! Hit a dry patch, raised AK and had to give up after barrelling Q high flop on a board with no draws, lose to 88, probs get him off with 3 barrells but would probs have to commit whole stack, then raise 1010 and get a KQ flop, donk lead, limited options with stacks.  Good thing is my raises are getting stationed so perfect set up for when I get a hand, just need one!  145/246 with about 90k, 125k avg

Ship it pre mate, that hand was a really bad candidate for a small 3bet, because it plays so poorly when they peel (and they always peel).

Interesting final hand, my immediate thoughts was I would shove pre, but after reflection I am wondering if your play was not the better one.  We are ahead of his range pre for sure and are we not meant to keep worse hands in?  After c bet, i am sure you have no choice but go for it.  I then take your point about that hand not flopping well and he is almost always peeling.  ( don't think he should be with your image ? ).  So I am not sure what is best, PHA  ? 

Would like to know the best play as I have found myself in similar spots before, hence DONK mode engaged and I shove :)

Dreenie and Jamie were both in the shove camp and those are pretty strong opinions. I think my mistake was to think woahhhhhh I have 430k that's way too much to jam, were as it is only 24BB which I didn't really realise till after the hand. Think the main issue is I have a hand which is only a 60/40 against live cards, and perhaps banking the pot means more. 2 free rounds of blinds really.

On the converse side pretty sure if I jammed it in his eye and he had AA I would be sitting thinking why didn't I 3b. I did the same bet earlier with AA on him which he should know, so doubt he was loving life, but it was just a cold flop really, with these hands it's one I go broke on! Although he folds 95% of his opening range I guess so the maths won't stack up :(

I may chuck it up on PHA but its a bit raw today to see a precession of "shove pre ainec" ha ha

I don't have time now because I overslept, but when I do I'll write a detailed post including maths as to why it's a CLEAR shove (ainec :p). This is a common mistake that people make in tournaments, you have to forget about how big the number is next to your name and just see each spot as "how many bigs am I risking to win how much is in the pot and how much fold equity do I have". That goes for straight up 3betting not just shoving.

Even if you were to 3bet there, making it 2x his open out of position with this type of hand is definitely a mistake. You are giving him such a sick price on a peel, and even fish understand that.

Yeah this was the thing that stuck out the most when I watched the hand. Yes jamming pre is best, but you should basically never be 3-betting this small OOP, way way too small... so much so that you should be jamming.

Played £30 tourney. Was good laugh but the stupid fucking dealer* wouldn't give me any cards and eventually busted about 3/4 hours in. Great fun though!

Then there was a seat on 1/2 so I dove straight in my dad was on .5/1 and having fun or .5/.5 so thought 1/2 was a good option as did not especially want to be sat with my dad. He was having fun and happy to leave him to it! Anyway table was stacked up I had £90 in my pocket and took my seat with a trip to the cash machine planned once i had seen how much I think I would need. I like to sit short on new tables in new environments so not to do my bollcoks early on. Anyway within 4 hands I had doubled and then one another big pot about an hour later. Table was good fun very young crowd but many of them talking the tall about money. Average stack about £400 most of the night with money flying about. It was not too crazy but lots of bluffing going on and often going 4 ways to a flop with £80 in the middle etc.

Anyway I won about £300 in the end lost a big pot nearing the end with the old 64 on k64dd against k7dd all in on the flop for like £500+ pretty standard really just would have made a great weekend even better

Down to just MM $5.50 pretty cold near bubble in the other nb was pretty sure he should have aces with that OOP low 3b, he shoves AK etc but just cant fold KK in a $3.30 tournie with no history

Clearly did not win MM, out in a spot I will admit I am still having difficulties fathoming! I am not really 100% sure on ante up logic.  Admittedly we went out with Ax for loads of BB :( sigh

So, we have 42k villain has 40k, the blinds are 5/5 (as always) and the antes are 500, so there is 4510.  My stack is above average which is likely about 30k which is a good reference point and we are not near bubble.

Villain pots it, now thats 4500 or a 10th of my stack pre, we have AQ, now flatting seems bad, 3b folding seems bad, folding seems bad and all in seemed bad, basically all options seem bad.  A pot open was not unstandard on the table, some favouring lower amount varying from 1/4 to 1/2 pot.  Not sure you could assign ranges from bet sizings more likely flaws in understanding of game strategy.  Anyway, we shoved AQ, he had AK.  I am trying to work out how bad this is,  on refleciton it seems similar to the 10x hand I folded AQ to earlier in the thread, but with the lack of certainty over villains game understanding, did not seem as clear cut....anyways! just wanted to note that down incase anyone was watching! would post in PHA but to be honest never play ante up so not a huge mental issue for me

Playing a decent session tonight, 7pm start.  If I do not cash a MM eventually I may have to quit the game and refund all stakers money....they are literally haunting my soul right now

Also wanted to comment on the debate that has multi threaded about bonuses etc.  I received a deposit bonus when I put money in which is amalgamated in the roll.  At present I have been using FPP's to buy step 2 tickets which I use for the nightly $7.50 turbo as I like that tournament or Big $11/Storm tickets.  The freerolls, when I play them are also included as I mentioned before.  So in short, I dont do anything on stars which is not staked so it always will be.  Obviously at my level its a bit less contentious as we are talking about buttons but just for transparency.

November stats from OPR show 51 ITM from 419, so down on last month on around 11% ABI $4.78 which is exactly the same as last month.  Clearly happy with the month end, hope for more of the same.

On the 180s I have considered this a few times as its been raised before.  I thought 180s suit more volume as I have enough of my bread and butter games the majority of the time, I do not need table coverage.  I think the 180s are more suited to the mega volume players, but I struggle beyond 6 tables.  In addition I have no notes so would be coming in cold against regs, not sure if the roll is enough to learn the games, also adjusted shoving ranges in the turbos, I would need to spend some time learning that, as I think its more standardised in the 180s as opposed to the volume of randoms in the high runner games where its a bit less regimented.  All that may be nonsence but thats my thought process.

I will continue to consider though, and may chuck a few Golden ones in during the promo to test it out, will not be many though.

I really want to play this bur a bit difficult due to stake running.  Going to maybe put up a spot thread for it and put a bit up myself as its out with stake scope but book 10% from the roll so were covered.

Been doing some thinking on the Sunday Million and had expressions from 60% of investors that they would be interested in investing.

I can't play again till Saturday daytime and wont really have much time to get into the satellites, I am also concerned chucking $40 at it is a bit of a chunk at a shot.

Proposal

I will put up 40% myself and open 60% up to investors on the stake at spot, this translates as follows:

25% investor gets 15% of million for $32.25
10% investor gets 6% of million for $12.90
5% investor gets 3% of the milion for $6.45

As we will be playing the 1000 seat satellite all investors need to do is confirm acceptance.  if we get the seat the tournie is on the stake and no funds need to be shipped.  If we blank it I will buy in from the roll and ask investors for settlement if we do not have a winning Sunday as obviously there is  a chance of winning another comp and profits to cover some/all!  If anyone declines the offer then there portion will be offered on a first come first served basis.

Think I understand this and agree.  We are just sending $12.90 if there is nothing to return?  If the dividend is less than $12.90 I just sent the difference. It isn't added to the stake or make up.  It might just be easier to send $12.90 so that nobody is confused?

Geek point.  When people sell at spot, they usually mean at par.  Spot just means the current price, par means 1:1.  If I choose to sell at 1.5, assuming people/mugs pay that price, that is my current spot price.

Just reviewed OPR, played 24 last night and blanked every one! Pretty much the worst evening of online poker I have ever had.  I do not even remember near bubbling any.  AA<1010 twice for chunks in my two favourite tournaments summed it up really ($1 rebuy, big $11).
