being from bolton i can safely say you will feel overdressed with both your ears.

Will be there from tomorrow if you want a pint and dont bother with the second half of the grand- couple of good gags in it but overall very very poor

make sure and check you are ok to wear multiple logos. If you need to speak to someone at betfair to confirm this is ok drop me a pm and I will tell you who to contact. I am happy with whatever you do with the money i give you to buy the % and just hope you have a good time. If you are OK'd to wear other logos I may also be interested in paying extra to stick a logo on you as well (non cardroom - would be just nice to give him a few hundred $ to get a big MUG logo on his back loool). Any extra deal you get for playing this should be yours imo- state it clearly in the thread though so there is no mixups (lets just say u did win the thing and get a deal with whoever then I only want 5% of what you cash in this event).

Will be offline all week at the GUKPT but will send you the money str8 away as I get the bank details through.

has he learned from his past mistakes with BR management? Why have we never seen him get involved in the stupid prop bets most of the others do (or have there been any silly prop bets with Patric or anybody we dont know about)

so complicated this thread lol. Cant help wondering if any of you have used any meta theory without realising it.

simple example- biggest fish in your live game who loses chunks every week. He looks to be getting a little bit fed up and starts saying he may not come anymore even though he has lost thousands every night for months. Last hand of the night he bets a £300 at you on the river and you are sure he has you beat but are a £3k up on the night, would it be so bad to pay him a few hundred off the last hand of the night? its only a tiny % of your profit on the night and you are pretty certain if you send him home with the taste of that one win he will be back tomorrow. would it be so bad to massage his ego a little telling him you are going to have to be carefull with him in future as hes playing a lot better etc etc etc?

there are plenty different levels of metagame theory and if you look at some of the top players in the world it should show you how they use it. DN for example- how does he play? caling station, loose etc etc etc. Gus hansen- maniac... if you watch closely whenever they play a huge pot in tourneys they seem to have a monster though. You think that is by accident? Its nice to have a loose crazy image and when it comes down to it always get your chips in good ,also a loose crazy image means less people will steal or bluff you as you are capable of calling with anything- how many of you have seen the gus- I have have ten high I have to call v antonio esfandari? was it a coincidence it was in a tv invitational event that meant nothing? everyone remembers that hand though so it was very good advertising

ok lets work on a 200k prizepool- they will be taking 10k in "rake" and adding 25k. A better way of doing this PR wise wouldve been to add 15k and charge no rake but the bean counters obviously didnt want to do this. Its still another "added money" event. As for gats thinking grosvenor do nothing for poker in the UK I would point him to the figures present at the GUKPT festivals- where else can you play on a monthly basis for a 300k+ prizepool? They add money to events and still get slated- they really can't win can they?
145  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: The Grosvenor Grand Prix is back! on: August 16, 2008, 03:50:46 PM
they are in effect raking 5% of all the rebuys but by adding the 25k they have more than covered what they have taken away. I dont agree with raking rebuys but lets be honest- grosvenor have done a lot for poker in the UK so we can't really fault them for taking a little back. All we need now is a few more staff at the venues who are interested in poker and developing their card rooms. What has happened to blackpool and its 200 seater card room is a disgrace.

lovely stuff,
yet another phrase i can add to my ever increasing list of unfathomable poker termanology.
i rememeber the first time i met nik persauld down at the gutshot a couple of years back, he was talking about a hand (i know, hard to believe it) & he asked me whether i thought there was much fold equity in it - he may as well have been speaking chinese, i honestly had no idea what the hell he was talking about
(obv i put on game face & blagged it....)

just find it highly amusing the thought of someone trying to ask you if there was fold equity in a hand a couple of years back. Fold equity back then for you julian was a simple equation :yoyo raises+still has chips left= he aint folding Wink I always said we were all completely fooked when you learned about fold equity, pot odds and position.

As for metagame theory the perfect example is Julians career. First few years was just setting everyone up with so many -EV plays and now he reaps the benefits with his image.

rumour has it that phil laak is going to try and do the whole 36 hours without a break. If he manages that I will be very impressed although if he runs bad it could be very expensive
