Early on in a ft donkament. Strobes bet is a bit of a mug (3b my utg open, calls a large 4b oop, check folds 345 flop), RandomDonk has been pretty active, but seems reasonable.

Yeah i like it from start to finish. Randomdonk probably has JJ coz he checked the flop after raising pre and yet still wanted to stack off after that, but I really do like this line.. I think it max's value. Maybe you can POP HIM on the turn to eek some value out of the hands that he iso's with that turned a draw,  but globally I doubt that is optimal. WP

Like flushy said leading the flop is ok but the way you played it is just as good imo but then again you never play hands bad

Interestingly played, I like it man; but am surprised you check the flop in position on 2 players who might just think you're trying to steal.

Alex - is this a play for a tourny, that you wouldn't make in a Cash Game?

If yes, is that just stack size related, or are there other factors?

Very interesting hand. A street by street explanation of your thought process would be good to hear.

Very interesting hand. A street by street explanation of your thought process would be good to hear.

Preflop

I play it similarly in a cash games w 100bb,  purely because i wont make many mistakes with AA and 100bb in position. Deeper i 3b more, especially v a wide range, but v a nit/tight tag i play it the same a lot, probs raise/call 50/50.

Im tentatively hoping that Strobes tries some limp re-raise move with all the dead money as a bluff or has a hand he wants to go with, also, my hand is pretty well disguised here and i think RandomDonk seems capable, therefore trickier more deceptive lines will work better here (like if i 3b he will fold all KQ type hands that im praying he sees a flop with).

Flop

On the flop my hand is now the effective nuts, with all two pair draws villains can have rendered obsolete. Interestingly i would bet almost 100% of the time in a cash game if we were deep, as there are too many hands i can get value from if opponents are fish and it balances my stabbing range versus regs (like in a cash game if i had 78s i would bet here so would w AA too) and i bet a lot so wouldnt change that......

I didnt bet flop as flushy advocated as i think Strobes wont get too out of line with the tricky preflop raiser still active (wheras he might cr bluff/ for weird value (99?) HU) and if i bet i think Random donk will have to risk too much of his stack as a bluff for me to really get him to takeoff this early.

Turn

I expect random donk to fire the turn here with a chunk of his range when it goes check check check, my hand if i call turn looks a lot like 44-1010 and i think i might induce a river barrel by flatting. Raising serves a couple of purposes, like i can get him to stackoff with a FD sometimes and also if another highcard/flushcard comes i might lose some value from a hand like 1010 (say he has 1010 and river is the - he has a hard time calling my riv bet) that check folds. Also in back of my mind is the fact i still have the spewtard to act and want him to do something dumb like crai a fd +/- overs with 16% equity, which im obv gagging for him to do.

River, when he shoves i though sigh, 1010, esp when he timedown shoved in fake desperation, but he has so many worse hands/bluffs i obv have one hand in the air. Sadly, he had JJ and pwned me Smiley

Line is very nice. Personally I like the flop check.
