Rooney's a dive yesterday? He asks for a pen even though it's clearly not.

was it? I've not seen it yet as I was travelling but listening to it on radio 5 they said about 25 times that there was no foul but never once metioned a dive. could've been biased commentary though I guess

You mean like every single piece of commentary on Rooney?
Huh??
Townsend claimed it was a dive.
Don't think it was personally. Ref gave the pen because the defender did grab his shirt. Wasn't a penalty as they were both holding each other.

Defender doesn't have his shirt from my view. Also Rooney falls over and asks for the pen.

If it's not a dive it's still unsporting to turn around towards the ref and "ask" for a penalty.

Make a rule that states if a player is found guilty of diving then the next foul on him doesn't count.

Definite penalty - the defender pulls him over. He must know that Wayne can't let go of his shirt!

Seriously, how is asking for a penalty here not cheating?

That's OK though as it should end now that Ferguson supports action against divers.

agreed but under the current rules it would be moronic not to as you won't ever get penalised for it

either the ref gives the foul in which case he's expecting you to appeal or he gives it as a dive in which case you get done for simulation, part of the simulation being the appeal

either way your unsporting penalty appeals will always go unpunished
