I played the £20 NL 1 rebuy at Notts tonight and had a great time, lots of blondites there too and I think 3 made the final.

I went out on the bubble with AK, I chatted to Orlando on the way out who said he would play it differently to me. Jammer walked in on his way to the cash games and thought the situation was marginal - so I thought maybe more thought was needed.

The situation (as much detail as I can remember).

11 players left, 10 get paid approx 870000 chips in play, blinds 4k 8k. My table is 5 handed.

I have 77000 before posting the SB.

Table chip leader is 2nd to act and open raises to 24k total, button folds and it's me to act.

I have .

The BB is a friend of mine who I have played with a lot - he is tight and I'm fairly sure he's folding so no need to worry about him.

Chip leader is a youngish player who I have not seen before - he has quietly been building up his chips over the last hour or so since I moved to the table. (I have played 1 hand in this time and my stack has wained slightly). He has raised quite a few times and has had no real resistance.

He was involved in a big pot about 20 minutes ago where he called a raise with AK, flop came K high and he thought for ages before calling a check raise for about half his stack (other guy had KQ and he won).

I decided to go all in which made it a further 53000 chips him, if he called and lost he would still be left with ~ 80k which is around average.

My reasoning was:

1) I am out of position and would be at a disadvantage having to act first on the flop
2) I wanted to win the comp not sneak onto the final table and get £50.
3) My raise was just about big enough to put him to a decision - it would not be an automatic call.

Orlando said he would call and gave various good reasons - hopefully he'll post here and elaborate as I don't think I'd get it all right.

What would you do in my position?

What would your plan be for future betting rounds (if there are any)?

If the chip leader is a good player taking advanage of the bubble then his range and quality of hands goes down . I think that a push here is justifed . He cant fold tho as he has too many chips.

I'd do the same.

5-handed AK is a monster.
You've negated your bad position and are guaranteed to see 5 cards.
If you just call you're putting in nearly a quarter of your stack to only see 3 cards.
He's the CL, he could be raising with anything.

I'd go all in and I'd be perfectly happy if he called (unless he has AA or KK).  Got to play to win, AKstd 5-handed is a monster.

I think a huge hollywood dwell, before checking your phone and informing everyone that the missus is complaining, put your coat on, get your car keys out. And then move in.

The only hollywood I can do is slapstick overacting.

I don't think shouting SOMEBODY STOP ME! would help really  Cheesy

I would call and ditch it if i miss the flop. Against any other player the move is possibly correct but the CL is going to call you and you currently have A high.

I say he has JJ, 10 10.

A few responses to thoughts:

I don't think the chipleader is raising with any 2 cards without looking, but he isn't sitting back and waiting for aces until the final table. He is certainly the most active player at the table right now.

I don't think he would call me without a decent hand (it does represent about 40% of his remaining stack to call), this was just a feel I had from his play over the last hour or so.

Are 5 cards really better than 3?

To see 3 cards costs me 20k (already have 4k in the SB) - a reasonable 6667 chips a card.

To see an additional 2 cards costs me 26500 a piece - a lot more!

The main advantage I saw to being all in was he would have to show me a better hand to take the pot - not that I would get to see 2 extra cards.

Does the CL also know the BB is tight?

If I thought that the CL was stealing then I would reraise all in however, if i wasn't sure then i would stop and go for my whole stack. Same result however it looks stronger.
