I have to disagree with Tim Flowers. He was a top goal keeper.

totally agree, excellent and consistent. Ian Walker versus Italy has to be in the 1990-2000 Team Steve Whitworth was very good too in the 70s at full back Great lists though booder, saved me a job for later

See first post
Primus Inter Pares amongst candidates. Doesn't even need an interview
"First amongst Equals"? No way he stands out and deserves the Captains armband of this lot of losers.

chris sutton and tony daley are my shouts
after sutton refused to play for engalnd B he became the biggest disgrace ever to pull on an england shirt
also lee hendrie is worth a shout
francis jeffers may be a one cap wonder but he did score in his only game
finally ever crap team needs a crap manager and only graham taylor fits the bill ( although tighty might vote for peter taylor) it was peter taylor tht gave beckam the captains armband

I'll start with an automatic choice
Carlton Palmer (lets face it quite a few of these will be from the Graham Taylor era)
Everyone picks on Carlton Palmer even his manager. Still remeber a quote by Dave Jones about him "We reckon Carlton Palmer covers every blade of grass — but then you have to if your first touch is that crap."" Also thought this was quite funny http://www.geocities.com/carlton_palmer_4_england/

Can't have Paul Mariner in there. Who will ever forget that final qualifier for the 1982 World Cup in Spain and we had to beat Hungary to get there and he fell over the ball and it bobbled over the line. But for him we wouldnt have got there
