I'm probably passing this pre flop from UTG+1 although I might be tempted to limp as it's 7 handed.
Post flop I'm playing it exactly the same as you and getting horribly outdrawn

Yes i agree, i would've probably passed preflop...
and on the flop re-raised the $1200 all in...but the same outcome would've resulted as i doubt he'd pass his set for another 1000...

you got it all in with the nuts, can't do much else.  Just another outdraw  Cheesy

Couldn't you have picked a hand where I do nothing but check?
Nothing wrong with calling preflop and you flop the flush, woohoo.
I don't think you did anything wrong here, it's one of those "tv" hands where the cards play themselves and only ever one outcome.
Would anyone really fold an Ace high flush?

He couldnt fold it as the money went in when he was up against the lower flush and trips, what reason does he have there to fold it?

Apart from folding it preflop, not a thing you can do here, hand plays itself. To flop the nut flush against the 2nd nut flush and a set is something not seen too often.

A5h UTG+1 is a fold here for me though. I think it's a losing hand in this position. Ace high flop and you will only generally get action off an Ace that is beating you. Flop the flush (118/1 - dream flop), then someone has to also have something big to pay you off. Flop 2 flush cards and you find yourself calling off chips on a draw, where your stack can't afford it, unless you are gambling, in which case raise with it.

the only reason why i limped in was...it was cheap enough for me to do so. i've i missed the flop then its a fold, if i hit the flop either with a flush or a wheel then bingo

My main point is that you do not know "that it is cheap enough to see the flop", as you are UTG+1 and have no idea what action is following you. In position yes, but UTG with your stack, it's a fold for me personally. Calling 100 here (if you do get to see the flop for that amount) with the odds of flopping a flush or a wheel so long, i personally cannot see it as a long term profitable move as flushes, straights and 2 pair are the only things i'm after with this hand.

Calling with hands like this is great if you are aware of why and what your actions will be on each street. What do you do if it comes Ace high? What if 2 to the flush on board? what if 2 pair? If you know what your moves are in these situations and don't get married to these type of hands, then calling is great.

Too tight to fold this pre. Pump it up and see where we go from there

Don't think you can play this differently, it's 2006 and this may be the nut line.
