Too many rocks in those 2 table MTT's, dodging them is hard work, although no one ever lays down an over pair to the board, people seem to be happy to bust when the hand is beat. Its like they are in denial.

I know how you feel billy - it's great to have a day where everything seems to go ok.

I've been having a bad run recently and couldn't seem to hit a cows backside with a banjo (where does that expression come from?) yet today I sat down to play and had 2 huge hands in the first orbit and got paid nicely on them both.

It's actually one we've stolen from over the water, rather than the other way around. Or so it seems.

"He couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a banjo" I believe was originally used by baseball pundits to describe someone on a hitting slump.

It could be an extrapolation of another baseball expression called a "banjo hit"

Apparently, not so much to do with the banjo having a larger surface area than a baseball bat, and so easier to hit something with, but rather the sound that this particular hit makes.

Banjo hit: An accidental ground ball such as one hit on a check swing, named in 1924 by Jersey City second baseman Ray Dowd for the way the ball "plunks" off the bat.

Which of course begs the questions...

What the f*** is a ground ball?

What the f*** is a check swing?

Why the f*** am I doing this, rather than finishing some article that was due to be submitted to Snoppy for the website five and half hours ago.

Ground ball is easy enough, that's a batted ball that rolls or bounces on the ground.

A check swing is a swing begun by the batter, but ruled by the umpire not to have been a genuine attempt to strike the ball. Apparently, whether or not you meant to hit matters sometimes.

As for the last question, I'm blaming writer's block.

It sounds like the tank is improving his sporting terminology!! So when we say "its the bottom of the fourth with it being all square with one on and no out as the clean up man steps to the plate. His ERA is a modest one at less than three hundred but has always managed to perform well against the knuckleball" you'll now know what we're talking about?!?!?!?  Cheesy

p.s. did you finish the article?

p.p.s. the giants beat the marlins 14-2!! Wooo GOOO giants!!
