I know it's minor, but I don't see the point of betting 500 on the flop. You know you're behind, so why move all-in. You never know, he may check it to the end and keep you in the comp.

In terms of preflop, I'm not a big fan of what is pretty much A-rag. I would have folded and waited for something better.

If you're going to call a reraise after your minimum raise though, then you might as well just go all-in in the first place and push away bigger aces.

Just what I though but I had been reasonable successful in stealing blinds (with a higher stack) with hands like this.

I still have 10xBB but im low stacked and to be honest im praying the flop is going to hit but it needs to be at LEAST an A and hopefully 2 diamonds.

I didnt see the point in folding with 500 chips left to be honest...I know there is the "chip and the chair" and maybe I should have folded but 3 aces were still out there lol

Thank you snoopy and byron(grrrrrr) we live and learn

I would of folded or moved all in preflop. More likely folded tbh

With 10xBB you cannot pass to a re raise - so dont give them the chance to do it.

Zoiks. You've misunderstood. I didn't mean you should fold if he sticks you in for your last 500. I meant that you should check the flop because if he has ace high too, then he may check it down to the end and you'll still be in the comp, although with only 500. But still alive.

Had a guy tonight having a pop at someone for folding the river for 550 chips in a 5k pot.
I asked why should he call if he's lost? and he replied that pot odds meant he HAD to call!
Anyway he called an allin for 2/3 of his chips with A2 shortly afterwards and hit, boy oh boy, EVERYONE at the table slagged him off Cheesy

Snoopy, you never know, the 500 might force a pass.

That was sort of my point.

If the board had came    , you might have been able to force a pass, but i think with only one high card out there, its unlikely they will fold to such a small bet.

But its a freeroll, even if they pass just 1 in 1000, its worth having a go!

In my opinion, this is a hand that you must raise with to try and steal the blinds uncontested but if there is a re raise behind you it always goes in the muck.

You made the right play by raising and even though you only had about 6k left you should have folded to the re raise. This is because the re raiser is almost certain to have Ace Nine beat and often with AJ, AQ, AK, or better.

I know people will argue that you needed to double up and were pot committed but in my opinion you should have folded and waited for a better spot to push all your chips in with and soon.

Flushy... it wasn't a freeroll, it was the Thursday Blonde League $3 rebuy and these games are VERY tough. You should try one sometime.  Wink

I see what you mean snoopy, the reason for putting my last chips in was so that he would think I had a hand and perhaps fold but as has been pointed out thats highly unlikely for a mere 500 chips.

Interesting point made by Horneris, with the reraise I really should have folded.

So in future I will probably not play the hand or go all in preflop.

I would be interested to know if Jim reads this, if he would have called had I went all in preflop?

Thank you to all who posted with their advice.

Sigh....

It's a freeroll as in, the chips are always going in, but if you push he might pass, basically it costs you nothing extra but might net you the pot.....a freeroll
