poetry in motion.............moves me to tears

It's hardly poetry in motion, the Flying Scotsman is well over-rated, damn LNER & LMS were always second-rate.

Give us a GWR Loco - King George V ideally. A proper Loco, like.

The Euston platform depth is due to "dangerous congestion."

as long as we dont mention Virgin trains coz they stink.

You are not wrong - it's a design fault, around the vestibule areas & they truly pong awful. I think Wooly Jumper left his Wooly Jumper there.

There are some words that I just like for some reason, vestibule is one of them. another is propinquity. Nothing propinques like propinquity!

Well I am sure you are right, but that argument applies to scores, if not hundreds, of LU Statiions. There must be another reason, no?

Wow, what an AMAZING page you have found for me there Nem - I will be immersed in that all night. Thank you.

I highly recommend all of you to have a gander - it's fascinating stuff, I have been looking for that sort of detail on LU for an absolute age.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euston_tube_station

"At Euston the single island platform on the Northern Line City branch was suffering from dangerous congested[sic], so a new City branch northbound platform was constructed some way to the south and the old northbound track was removed to provide a wider southbound platform."

Nicely done, Nem...  Cool

I voted yes - lets keep all the train enthusiasts segregated - they can natter to their hearts' content on their special thread, and any mention of trains anywhere else can get moved by the mods - everyone's happy!
