Fugu (Stuart Menzies) just won a huge pot all-in preflop with A7 vs Paul Moss' AK suited.  3 6 7 flop suited him fine, and with no improvement he doubles up to over 30,000.  One of the leaders undoubtedly.

Five minute break for everyone to get a(nother) drink and buy up the yellow 25 chips.

RoyalFlush James lost nearly all of his chips (down to 425 - something to do with re-raising all-in with 2 5) and moved on the button and was called by Tikay's pocket 10s but his J4 hit a Jack to get his first double up.  It was all uphill from there, then with AJ vs 99 he won the race.  Then raising all-in on a Q 10 8(all hearts) flop his KQ somehow stayed out of trouble all-in against . He has accumulated 14,000-odd chips by this break.

Before I hassle Tony for his chip count, the last surviving female player (who wins herself a nice glass trophy and a Fray Bentos) is Karen from Cornwall.  People have come from all over the place, including one guy who was pointed out to me as having come from Barcelona to play in this event.

Here's the latest:

Karen West OUT - last female player takes her trophy and will probably be back tomorrow
Joe Beevers 33,000
Keith Hawkins 3,100
Steve Meehan 18,000 (looks genuinely surprised to have chips)
Ian Bradley 22,000 (on Tikay's left)
James Dempsey 6,000 (says he's modelling himself on Yo-Yo)
(Man of) Steele 12,000 (on James' left)
Paul Garnham 9,000
Tikay 16,000

Chip leader is Mark Scope with around 70,000.  He came second in last year's comp, according to reliable source Angie.

Sit'n'gos have popped up as players are eliminated, and, I think, an Omaha cash game or two; people seem to be hanging around for the long haul, although the desired finishing time for today's festivities is midnight.

******

Big all-in hand between Tikay and Pete Steele:  Pete re-raised all-in holding 99, and Tikay took a long time to call with JJ.  The board came 10 8 9, then a slow turn and river brought 5 6 which doubled Pete through to 28k and knocked the Elder Blond to around 4k!

34 players remaining - no, I tell a lie, 33.  Tikay OUT calling an all-in from the small blind with 10h , "which doesn't play awfully well against two tens," according to the man himself.

Down to 27.  Here are the poker ladies Mel and Claire, relaxing onstage (the update area is a kind of, well, stage at the front)

How Mr Bradley doing?

Has he managed to be his usually chewy self with what must have been a hell of a hangover?!

Could you inform him I've had a quote for a glass eye to replace my real eye (which was lost to Mr Bradley's sizable hand in an unsightly dance move clash involving the spinning of two young girls!) and it comes to £2150....so first prize would do!!!

James Dempsey OUT - having yoyo-ed like the best of them, he found himself all-in with 10 2 (suited!) under the gun, called by sixes, and, in his own words, "unceremoniously lost. Disgraceful."

Ian 'At-It' is holding his own with about 45,000.  He doesn't seem to remember blinding you all that clearly Rooky.  I'm sure if he doesn't win first he'll buy you a wooden eye or something.

Paul Garnham - OUT
Keith Hawkins - OUT

Mark Scope 60,000
Steve Meehan 21,500
Joe Beevers 32,000

New chip leader in Peter Katz with 105,000 or thereabouts (he's one of those uneven stackers)

In the blink of an eye (and the raise of a blind) they are down to the final two tables - 18 players remaining and just ten get paid...

these include (as announced by Davey Newth):

Steve Bennet
Andy Horn (VC poker manager)
"Somebody spposed to be working for 425"
Mark Scope
A geezer from Doncaster
Jacko
Mr Katz (been to every event).  Not a full rundown by any means, but thought I'd write it in case he said some names I didn't already know.

Andy Horn doubles up with AQ vs Joe Beevers' pair of Nines.  Looks like Davey may be announcing some hands from the floor which means I can be yet lazier and just write the hands as he announces them.  Great.

Joe all in again, but gets no callers.

Blinds are at 2,000 - 4,000 currently.

Eric from Manchester eliminated by Andy Horn with his AhKh which connected with the Ace on the flop to give him another sizeable pot.
