out of my depth?

i considered myself a very good player and managed to build a decent sized (or so i thought) bankroll playing  0.10-0.25 blinds at ladbrokes.i decided to move up the levels and lost it all in two hands on the $5-$10 blinds.i pushed all in on my second hand with  hoping for a quick double up and got called by the big stack with  .i watch a lot of poker on television and see people go all in almost every other hand!did i play really bad or was i unlucky?after losing all $220 of my bankroll i felt physically sick and it took me a week before i could face playing again.anyone have any advice what levels i should be playing or on how to improve my poker skills?

Don't gamble your entire bankroll on a pair of sixes.

i suppose it is quite a jump but i had been clenaing up at the lower levels and thought i was good enough to move up.a couple of double ups and i would have had a massive bank roll.how much would you suggest i have to play them blind levels?

I don't really know what advice you are looking for. Harrington on Hold'em is probably a good starting point if you want to learn how to play. You might want to go back to the levels you are used to playing, build up your bankroll and go up the levels more slowly.

Gambling your entire bankroll on any hand is pretty bad but suicidal with pocket sixes that if called is going to be a coin flip at best. You were closer to having a 10% chance when you ran into the kings.

wow that's one hell of a leap up in levels mate.  I'm doing ok at 25c/50c and am wondering about moving up to 50c/$1!  the $5/$10 would kill me, that's high roller level almost.

My only advise, move up 1 level at a time, the boys at those levels really know what they are doing and will take you to the cleaners.

20k minimum, 20 buyins of 100 big blinds. I'd want more.

The poker you see on TV is tournament poker. The stacks relative to the blinds are much smaller and a much more aggressive strategy is required. They edit out all the 'boring' bits and what you see is like watching 'Goals on Sunday' rather than the full match. It bears very lttle relation to playing a cash game on the internet.

The best way to learn poker is to stick to the small games and build up gradually and read lots of books.

i think all the tv i had been watching may have had an influence.i have seen people push all in with jack 3!i did start off at low limits and thought i had a decent bank roll.i guess i was wrong and need to review my game.
