Mainly cash, 15/30 or 25/50.
Slow bankroll building, $110 of deposits - $4850 now.
12 months online.
Few S&G's and MTT's, up to $10. Still learning tournament play.
Play live once a week - local clubs. Doing ok so far.
Interesting thread, nice one sofa----king.
$4850 is seriously short bankroll for $15/30 and $25/50 limits. Your risk of busting out is high.

I’ve played stakes online poker for just over 12 months now and have deposited about £125 total across 4/5 sites in that time. Current bankroll is around £1,100 so I’ve done ok ( clearly just a grinder though!
) but it’s more about the challenge ( and the fun ) than the winnings for me.
Would like to play more but struggle finding the time to be honest
Small stakes only, playing mainly $5/$10 STT and MTT’s with some 0.25/0.50 cash games thrown in.
I’ve never played live and have no real plans to do so as I have a serious problem with my facial control !!!!

the feed back im getting here is that a lot of blondes play mostly online ,this is not a dig at anyone but it seems to me that it sounds as if nobody wins online?
ok red gets a few results and a few others but im sure that online DO NOT PAY,,,,,, i just think online is a expensive way of entertainment the only winner online i think is the rake,
Lots do play online here, not suprising given its a forum online. If you go into a live cardroom would you be suprised if people said they played mostly live! I don't know why you think the rake is the only winner, the rake is less than live (especially after you factor in expenses) there are lots of people who play for a living online, quite a few of my friends fall into this catergory. Red is a prime example, do you think he is just lucky? I think he just treats online very proffesionaly and as such enjoys the rewards for doing so.

i think the only value online imho is to play small mtts ,without showing off but i have played from £3 up to £2000 online mtts
When has a site ran a £2k MTT?!?! Of course the play differs in them, i have also played a rather wide range of online tournaments (right from the eary days of online tournaments) and there is a big diffrence.

but i dont ever think anyone will get a fortune and keep it
as it just gets passed around, ive spoken to a lot of top players online about this and a lot agreed
they all seemed to think that only 2-5%off online players actually win (long term)
Which top players have you talked to about it, there are loads of excellent young Americans who have banked fortunes, yes some lose it back because although they may be good card players they are poor poker players (money management is part of being a poker player, a truely good player has no need to go skint) some of those are at the top of the game (and there always will be some as they enjoy a good run whilst playing out of thier rolls)
As for myself i play these online comps for a living playing, so anything from 20 rebuys to 500 fo's
Live i have played the £5 rebuys and main events, the biggest event i have played would be an EPT, the biggest i actually bought in for was a £1k main event. Although that will change next month when i am playing singapore.
Gl at the tables James, i am looking foward to meeting you, have heard a lot about you from Maria, Jon Raab and Rudders.

I'm a wannabeepro player but only play for small stakes online - I do play a lot online though. Have only played live three times - blonde bash 3 was the biggest of the live events I've played, the others being £10 rebuys in small places.

Great thread, very interesting and as tikay always says we are a varied bunch from top pros to micro limit players.
My story is i that i quit teaching at Easter to become an online poker pro. For a few reasons i wasn't enjoying my job, my love for poker and the fact that i had always made a good 2nd living from the game.
I started off grinding cash games playing 4 tables at a time but i think slowly began to realise i wasn't as good as i thought, my winrate wasn't what i expected and to be honest i was making a living through rakeback and bonuses in truth.
Then an incident which initially did not seem good, the backlight (means the screen just goes black) on my laptop went and i was forced to move onto my housemates pc for a week. Without the crutch of my beloved Poker Tracker and its add ons, i decided to give SNG's a shot as player tendencies are less important.
Wow since then i think i have found my game, i started with the regulars and seemlessly moved up to 8 tabling 33 regs. I have now switched to the turbos on stars for the rest of the month to try out the theory that is more $/hr there and that appears true, so i maybe there to stay.
So currently found playing 16/27 turbos on stars 8 tabling, have plans to 10/12 table and move up. I love playing live but online is my cash cow,.
As flushy point out above there are more online pros than you think and some people are making more than you think. A few names spring to mind of big winners online Johnny Lodden, Prahlad Friedman

There are a fair few winners online james - pab and geeforce spring to mind instantly- both making a full time living off it ( they also happen to be excellent live players too. for my part i am just a part-time player- but could not play if i reguarly lost. as you know i play play stt/mtt live- £100 rebuy being my fav. also played a few festivals when time allows- luton/walsall/cardiff/aruba that sort of thing.
Online I play $200 stts (some 100 and 500 too), and lots of the bigger mtts (with reasonable sucess) mostly on tribeca (as Khazi) or stars and UB. i have got to this point working my way up the levels and by maintaining a workable bankroll- its taken a few big dents but not gone bust yet(touch wood). and yes I am in profit online ( analy retentive as i am - i keep records of every single game that i play live onlive the lot)
Oh and for the record- sofa-king- james IS mad and is probably the best chip accumulator that i have played against or seen......... its just that he doesnt always keep them .
i know what you mean richard on a few online winners but everyone i know who can win plenty in a live game cant online m8 look at martyn sponsored by badbeat and cant win 0 online yet live he holds his own and there are a lot more likw him a few who i cant mention but i think you know who,its all rosey in the garden in the begining but after a while m8 there is only one winner ,,ok so if you knew 100 winners online from this forum i think you would be over estimating ,but look how many runners there are on here it would be a very small %%%%% of winners i can tell you m8 any ways gl and pi550ff lol see you thursday if i dont go to ept ireland

firstly it was £2k heads up m8typo error
but ive played the same people and diffrent people and regardless to amount that is being played for there is not much diffrence in either if anything the £2k heads up games were looser as people dont think they would be but let me just say ..
the more you play for online
the looser the game gets
coz you know if your playing someone for £2k or £100 it really dosent matter
awhat im trying to get through to most of blond players is every time you sit at a table there will allways be someone sitting with a bankroll 10 times what you got on that table so if you work and get £500 a week wages in a job and sit at a table with all your wages ,you will have someone on that table who gets £5000k a week wages so .....any way you all know the score ...how many times do you hear he called me with blah blah and hit the nuts or so,it happens everyday online you get people posting here ..you never guess what he called me with
yeh blah blah and hit his gutshot ,,,,well i dunno who am i to say its just a opinion of mine ,,all i know when i play live i get results whether cash or tourney or heads up,,and you know what........ive never ever ever won online ok a few chit ones 2k3k2k and a few heads up to ,but im not a bad player, maybee crazy but not bad

Part of it may be that the levels you are talking about online are VERY tough, you are playing some of the worlds best players. I didn't realise you meant HU matches, i would love to know how those huge games go. I play quite a lot of HU myself and wonder how diffrent it can be at the top levels.
I don't know how you can single out 4 of the top 10 online players in the UK, firstly it's near impossible to tell who they are, secondly you would probably never meet them! I can think of a few who are known players who would probably disagree with what you say. Mafews, Gryko, Grundy, etc. The truth is the online pros are anonymous, the biggest winners may well not be known to us.
Great thread btw.

I am willing to take that bet!
If we take the 5% winners 95% losers as the divide in poker, it's debateable but lets assume it.
Do you think those people who are members of a poker discussion forum are going to be better than or worse than average? I would safely say that the chances are they are going to be better than average, so a higher % of winners.

I think the Blonde Leauge games I have played ( not many recently ) have a better standard of players than a random $5 mtt .
