THE ICHUC 2006 CHAMPION TEAM

A wee word first, fae thetank

I was hoping to have run more qualifiers, along the lines of the one at the Cincinnati Club for a spot in the GB team. It was a rip roaring success. I had big plans, they were to have taken place, not just in Glasgow, but also in Dundee. An all female qualifier (to make sure we had at least one woman in the team) was also on the cards.

This did not happen, one factor was the final date and structure of the team (it is now 8, not 11) was not set until fairly recently. That being said, I could have done something more about a qualification process. It is entirely my fault, recent personal problems have meant I wasn't able to attack this as originally intended. So I'd like to apologize to all Scottish blondites who would have liked to have gotten a shot at being in the team. (beyond the two qualifiers on VC last week)
I recall sharing in the criticism of how a Scotland team was picked entirely of Gala Maybury players sometime last year. Well, I've done exactly the same thing as it happens, so feel I need to say sorry y'all.

This all being said, I'm very happy at the quality of the bunch we have put together, and have every confidence that they will perform on the day. Knocking 7 and a half bells out of England. If we get a bit of luck, maybe a few wins agaisnt Wales and Ireland too.

I hope the Scottish blondes be able to get behind us regardless. If not myself (for understandable reasons), than at least the rest of the team. I'll tell you some reasons why I think the other 7 guys deserve your support

Ironside

Here's a man who's heads up credentials you'll probably all know about already. He took a full page ad out in the Elgin Morning News decalring his 5-0 victory over Tikay at blonde bash 2, aswell as plastering it all over the forum here.

Indeed, at all blonde bashes, he has played 12 heads up games, and won 10 of them.

He's the Internatinal Irish champion of 2005 and closer to home, the current leader of the APAT league.

Knock Knock, tell us Ironsides..Who's there?

Rod Paradise

Here's a man with an incredible heads up record lately.

Form was a word invented for folk like this, he is on a blistering wave at the moment, winning his last 12 competetive matches.

These include a win for Team GB last month (proving he's a team player, he still gets objects hurled at him for wearing that jersey) a mini heads up tournament at Lazaroonies, and of course, he championed team jock at BlondeBash 3 to the title, winning all his matches to shephard his team towards the trophy.

Swordpoker

Another member of the heads up side that was victorious at blonde bash 3.

He's a lean mean, pokah playing machine, who's other skills include being a qualified hypnotherapist and is also a former Scottish champion at Fencing.

For Scotland, he may well be getting his opponents to look into his eyes and fall under his spell, slice them in two with his rapier, or maybe he can just put them off with facial hair.

Make no mistake though, this guy can play.

Teacake

A fine addition to the team this IMO.

Not many people can boast two final table appearances at blonde bashes, this man can.

He took 2nd place in the Pokerstars unofficial blonde league earlier this year (Remember that one.) Getting to the last match of the heads up final.

A man of outstanding character, he never once blamed playing 13 hours of continous poker beforehand for his loss in that final. Using excuses is simply not an option, it's likely he won't need to in Dublin.

You can bet your boots this formiddable player will be a force to be reckoned with when he takes on the rest of the nation come November 4th.

Tigscoco

A dark horse this one.

I have kept her locked in a cellar for 6 months in preperation for this competition. She has had access to bread, water, and the occasional heads up opponent to practise on.

Her intensive period of training, and brutalizing, will have her take no quarter in Dublin. This girl has teeth, and will be biting for our country.

Gary Marshall - vc qualifier
Steven Masterton - vc qualifier

Both these chaps saw off the field, winning competitons that require aggression. I look forward to meeting them both, they've earned their place in the side.

Good team Tank, i like the post talking about each player, i would do the same but i cant be bothered Cheesy

As for selection, its very hard to get players to play an event like this (funny as it sounds) a lot of sponsors do not want thier players in a team sponsored by a rival poker room (fair enough) so we have to pretty much go for all non sponsored players. This then makes it harder to find people who are willing to give up a weekend and a few hundred quid with no real chance of a return (especially if you are scottish!!)
