On the "Edge", the more I get to play the more sensitive and philosophical I become at the same time.

Cash - That horrible sickening feeling when the boards paired and your opponent is leaving you the correct odds to call, even though you've made the nut flush! You know your about to donk off $100

MTT - When you have masterfully played your flopped straight- All in - to see MB hit runner-runner for his flush!

Eventually I've come to realise that its all part of the game, all you can do is to take solice in the fact that you make correct decisions at any given time, there are "No good cards, just good situations".

When I sat down to play live on Friday I told the table I was the world's worse shuffler / dealer and if anyone wanted to help out I'd appreciate it. The chaps mucked in and did all my shuffling for me but I thought I can deal at least.

The very first hand it's my deal. Deal kind of went OK but I kept the cards in my hand ready for the flop !

Forgot to burn a card and put the flop cards down including two aces. One of my table matey's had already gone all in and been called, turns out he had KK v A rag. This lead to some vociferous ' I ain't happies' since of course he's got outflopped badly and my lack of burning one and having the cards in my hand (a mechanic ? moi ?) got him quite upset.

He was right to be annoyed but I quietly explained (in a very loud voice :-) there's a way of saying these things to someone and that I didn't appreciate his approach.

Like all these things, storm in a teacup and after the initial minor fracas we're all the best of friends and they seem quite impressed by my beginners luck as I collect all the chips :-)

Point is, I loved all this - the fighting, the arguing, the making up -  and I really liked the aplomb with which all them other guys shuffled and dealt and I think I would really like to be able to do that as easily as them so I had time to work on things like picking up tells and such.

Since I don't play for money really I know I'm just gonna get out more and play as many of these smaller tourneys as I can

Just my thruppence

When I play, I feel the need to finish my Corona, as well as the hand I am playing, and head to Seamless.

Yeah thats whats boring, especially deep in an MTT when everyone is sat there in silence watching each other, YAWN!

If people actually enjoyed themselves at the table it would be ok, what really gets me though is the more experienced players berating the 'newbies' on bad play. Makes me want to go home and close the chat box.

Poker makes me feel confident, sounds wierd, but this is one of the only places where i feel "at home" and "confident", at the poker table. The only other place i am as confident about myself is on a football pitch. Must be coz i know im rubbish at everything else!

when I play well I feel great. Being the best at the poker table (not being the luckiest but actually outplaying people) is a fantastic feeling, kind off like what Henry must be feeling when he's on the pitch (just a guess obviously as I'm not nearly as skilled a poker player as he is a footie player but you know what I mean). Making stupid calls/moves always makes me feel a right muppet.

Is that what your Dad has been telling you! lol

When I'm playing poker live I feel a bit nervous the first few hands but then I calm down and just play. I feel excited when a nice flop is dealt. I also feel nervous when people look at me trying to analyse me, especially if they have sunglasses on!

When I'm playing online it's usually exciting cos more often than not I'll have someone watching and cheering me on and I can sit and dance (or whatever) when I get good hands lol! I'm more confident playing online.
