Oh and a quick warning for anyone who feels uncomfortable for others. I was sat next to my Jewish flat mate who wasn't laughing at much of the film - those who have seen the film will understand why. I was totally uncomfortable for many parts. He eventually worked out that it was actually a double back onto Americans for their racist views (Cohen has used this against his own religion many times over and works quite well.).

My son has bombarded me with clips from this and to be honest its not really my kinda humour.
To take the p*ss out off a country...any country and make them all out the same to me is just wrong.
The Scots are not tight, the Welsh dont sh*g sheep and the Irish are not thick. There will obviously be a few that will fit the bill but it annoys me BIG time that we are all put in "groups" based on the bases of where we are born!!
Lets see if Ali G ever has the balls to visit Kazakhstan in the near future.
It would not surprise me if he ends up face down in the Thames.
I wonder how many men they had to ask before they found 1 who admitted to treating his horses better than his wife...probably not that many but I have a feeling that might be worldwide.

I'm going to see the film soon. I did watch some Borat on TV recently and I noticed two different reactions from the people he meets. The first is a kind of embarressment where people are uncomfortable disagreeing with Borats racism, homophobia or anti-semitism, although, strangely they seem more likely to challenge his sexism. "Letting a woman vote is like letting a monkey fly a plane, very dangerous"
The second, more disturbing response is when you see someones face light up when they think they've found a fellow racist they can speak freely with. He was being shown round a private housing estate with a view to buy and he tells the estate agent his wife is uncomfortable around 'the chocolate faces and asks if they're allowed in. The guy said he couldn't gaurantee it but if they were, they'd be very well off and wouldn't act like normal chocolate faces. Also if anyone has ever seen the country and western open mic night where the rednecks are happily joining in with "throw the Jew down the well" it's scarey how much fun they're having. Cohen is a very brave man. I don't really laugh at Borat. I kind of make one gasp/laugh sound then spend the rest of the skit mumbling "oh my..wow...unbelievable..."
I don't think Cohen is saying "All Americans are racist" I just think he's making it obvious to the rest of the world that many are and we rarely get to see that side of the US.

I went to see it on Thursday and thought it was really funny. My kind of humour i suppose, you are not laughing at Borat, more the reaction he gets from the people he meets.
