Lets hope that one day the players DON'T have to kick up a fuss to get a decent tourney.
There was no fuss, just a simple request.
Should we have to request a decent tourney? I would hope that it would be automatic.

Given the very brief facts that you gave, Tom, Billy has a valid point (and is free to express him opinion on an open forum) It's great that TD's are listening to players, that is NEVER a bad thing. Lets hope that one day the players DON'T have to kick up a fuss to get a decent tourney.
I deliberately left the details out. It was a simple thank you note.
Why do people need to immediately follow anything positive with a negative. This guy is only guilty of trying to be helpful. and yet someone who doesn't know the situation feels free to accuse him of being a "Weak TD" and use language like "Keeping players with deep pockets happy"
Yes, he is free to express his opinion, you yours, I would never argue with that. It just makes me sad that even a simple thank you thread is used to make hurtfull and disparaging remarks about someone's ability and integrity.
Maybe a simple thank you note would prove more personal and less likely to receive unwanted comments, if they weren't posted on an open forum. Doing such allows ANY reader to post whatever response they feel fit.
I simply pointed out that Billy had a valid comment to make (I quite agree with him on the limited info, but may have worded it differently lol)

personally and in my opinion as i have said before i think its wrong for structures to be changed mid tournament or from the advertised structure.
surely grosvenor have ran enough tournaments in past to know what is and what isnt a good structure and to sort out before the competition rather than when asked or pressured (like was said earlier we dont know the facts) by players.
there might of been a few weaker gambler type players who know they arent as good as the red-dogs of this world but felt they would take there chance because it was a fast structure and would suit there loose gambling style rather than an absolute rock who will sit and wait for hands because the structure allows.
how fair is it on these players who pay thier money the same as the next person to see the goalposts moved away from the advertised structure to suit the better players?
hence why i say structures should remain unaltered and TD'S should learn and adjust for future planned events.
i personally would not change a structure at any event i organise because of pressure from players unless i considered there to be a serious flaw.
so to praise a TD for changing something mid tournament that he should have got right prior to the commencement of the tournament is not something i would do but of course if tom feels that his actions were worthy of the said praise then thats his perogative.
but as ginger said if posted on a public forum then its open to anyone to have thier opinion whether right or wrong.
maybe billy could of worded his "weak TD" better but i certainly wouldn't call him a strong TD with the limited facts presented in this forum.

Card room supervisor at Cardiff, who changed the ante structure twice last night (at the request of the players) to allow more play.
Sean has now been inducted into my Grovesnor Supervisor Hall of Fame, and is a serious contender for a spot in the top 3.
Sounds like a weak TD to me, caving in to players twice is either a product of poor tournament management and organisation or he's just keeping the people with deep pockets happy.
I would be impressed if he set a precedence within the chain to have all tourneys with a good playable structure not caving in to player pressure on a night during a tourney!
That's a bit harsh IMO.
If everyone there was happy with it how was it bad management? Surely that's good improvisation - managing. It takes balls to change a structure mid comp IMO. Especially after advertising a different structure.
It's not easy to determine what the TD was like by anything said on here. Only those who were there would know what he was like.
I think Red's view of the guy is a lot fairer than this one!

My comment was " sounds like a Weak TD" of the TD's I have known a few, the only ones that have changed the tournament structures they were running mid tourney were the weak ones, Tourneys that have an advertised structure should never change from what is advertised, players come with a strategy to play and as Belly said to move the goal posts is plain unfair.
I stand by my opinion.
As for wording things differently, why sugar coat things? personally i have never seen the point.

listen you lot ,i cant understand why you would want to have a go at a sean (TD) for giving the customers what they want ,,,
AND THIS IS WHAT WE ALL WANTED LASTNIGHT,
sean is one of the top tds in the game and he listens to the players not like some who want to turn games into crapshoots to get them over with.... this was something new what was asked to be changed, the running ante during level 150 - 300, and red-dog, as you all know is one of the most respected players on the circuit,so if he offers some advice for a little change then we at cardiff will look at it and welcome it .you know what theres some posters on here just waiting to jump down peoples throats for nothing IMO what a load of boll0x,why cant you just say oh well done sean keep up the good work, its not like as if hes done a runner with the money.
GREAT POST RED AND WELCOME BACK NEXT WEEK AND TO ALL WHO WANTS TO PLAY A TIDY GAME THAT DONT END UP IN A CRAPSHOOT

Memo to self:
Refrain from having an opinion, you may offend someone! pfft
Gimme a break, no one was having a go at the TD in question is was an observation on the facts given, simple as that and as usual the soapbox is taking a beating.

Sometimes just sometimes you don't have to piss on someone's fire. Let him say thanks without lots of Freud's coming out to analyse if it was a warrented thank you.

Acid, I'm not debating the fact that Red was saying a thank you, the point is that as soon as you decide to post that said thank you note, on an open forum thread, it is open for anyone to reply as they so please. If you DON'T want comments/replies or someone disagreeing, simply don't post it on an open forum!
Billy gave his opinion on what facts Red posted - that the structure was changed TWICE, to anybody that fact alone would make you wonder what sort of TD this was. This isn't a personal attack on an individual, but purely remarks on the little facts given.

Thats opinion Red not having a go, now if i had said he was a shocking TD and should be sacked for such actions, that would be having a go, with you being a mod i would expect you to know the difference.
