For all those planning a visit, please remember that the coffeeshops sell the silly cigs and the cafes sell actual coffee.
I got mixed up earlier and ended up trying to smoke a Cappuccino.

Jen & Snoopy
enjoy your stay in Amsterdam. I've only ever been their once, years ago when I was a reckless youth, I stayed on one of the cheap hostel barges, it was full of rats, eeeeekkk. I still get flashbacks
Also remember a young lady in leather....eeeekkk lol

Well, we're still at the point where Holland's most enthusiastic compere is shouting "Who DARES to play a one-hand satellite?"
I'm tempted.
But no, just looking for people I know - and come up with The Camel, Paul Alterman, Matt Tyler, Noah Boeken, Marcel Luske, Rob Hollink (notice a trend here), Karl Mahrenholz, James Akenhead, Mike Tse (who just won one of those one-hand turnovers about a minute ago)...
I am finding the watching of these scrambles for last-minute entry almost compulsive. There's a party atmosphere (and a €500 T-shirt as a consolation prize for those who end up seatless). Great stuff.

I am beginning to register disbelief when the Last Satellite is announced every few minutes. While I'm still on a coffee high, I hope they get started soonish, or I will be forced to nap under the table when the inevitable low kicks in.
Hold it - "All players please leave the poker pit" - this sounds like they might be ready to set up...first step make them all go away, second step get them all back in in the correct seat. I hope we'll be able to bring a full player list, but it's out of our hands, as per usual.

Well, it's gone 3 and we're yet to start. As Tom Jones once said though, "It's not unusual" so watch this space, I'm sure they'll kick off soon.

Good news and bad news.
Good news:
Irishman Peter Roche isn't feeling too well and has offered his ticket to young Jennifer where she takes 20% of any winnings. Therefore, Jen's going to play this one.
Bad news:
You're stuck with me. Sorry...

Well, they're dribbling into the arena now, and starting to take their seats, including a very excited Jen who looks like she's just wandered into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.
Other players giving it a stab today include:
Edgar Skjervold
Roy Brindley (ran well in Dublin)
William Thorsson (fresh off his third place finish in Dublin)
Gavin Simms (finalled in Dublin)
Abercassis (made last two tables in London before being outdrawn by Vicky Coren, K-K vs A-K
Donnacha O'Deah
Stuart Fox (who is now Sir Fox after his blonde knighthood and induction into the Hall of Fame)
James Akenhead (young agressive London player)
PokerGirl (I can never remember this guys real name, grr!)
Pascal Perrualt (This guy's everywhere!)
Mike Magee
Nick Slade (7th in Dublin)
Ross Boatman
Barny Boatman
Joe Beevers
Ram Vaswani (accompanied on the trip by 1 year old daughter, Holly)
Devilfish
Marc Naalden (Dutchman who finalled in Copenhagen last January)
Joans Molander (impressive Swede who finalled in Baden and just missed the final table in London)
Chris Moorman (blondeite who qualified for the event through blonde)
Sverre Sundbo (said he was going to quit after his Dublin exit, but guess what, he's back!)
Peter 'Bullit Pete' Haslam
Nick 'Gwibbo' Gibson
Nick Szchereejhrjhjerhrjeher (I can never spell his name correctly, apologies)
Ramzi Jelassi
Julian Gardner
Mark Teltscher (won a big un in London last year)
