Ok, the player in question has previously backed off on a few pots when scare cards come out, normally check folding... However, this time he doesn't and he gets me a little worried,..... I think i know i am going to be laughed at for not raising though!!

I will tell you if i were right or wrong to flat call a little later..

On a paired board I'm only calling here....could easily have trips on flop and house on turn, though the turn and river bets are a bit big to be value bets

Even so, I'd call...but then I am a wimp!

you gotta mix it up....

if the table knows i raise on FD and straight draws (which they did) i gotta play it differently now and again!

I like the river call.. his bet has gone from 22---34---158, now if you add this to your read, that he usually backs of, then this is almost always an indicator that someone either detests their hand or really loves it, and if its the former, they are insta-folding, the latter you aren't going to get much love a reasonable % of the time. Sometimes you miss out on value against K/Q high flushes, but when you play ranges you dont sweat it too much

against different styles/opponents this river is an instant push, but against the kinda person you describe, and this betting pattern, raising this river isn't such a hot idea.

yeah i have to agree with totalise here...I like the flat call..it's enough for me as against this sort of player a raise either gets you a fold or trouble.so no point in raising.

I'd have called, I hate pairs on boards (unless they're in my favour of course!)
