£3-3 blinds PLHE, live

Aggressive lairy game

You are on button with

You have £385 In front of you

Live straddles to £6 and £12, two callers, you flat call on button

Big blind raises another £20, called in three spots before it comes back to you

You call, pot odds dictate.

Flop

It's checked to you, think about having a stab at it but wonder if BB pre flop raiser was looking to check raise, think better of it

turn

giving you two pair

£160 in pot

UTG+1 who had live straddled bets the pot. Aggressive, loose, very wealthy.

Cut off raises all in, just covers you. Cut off is Colonel Booder.

Would have happily pushed myself versus UTG+1, now I'm in the tank,

Your thoughts please....

call? fold?

To come out firing on the turn would indicate a strong draw to me, I doubt the ace is out there as someone would have stuck in a chunky bet, My guess is you are ahead, I would call and reload if i were wrong.

I reckon Cut Off is slowplaying something here. (up untill he gets what he wants by UTG+1 betting the pot)

I don't know booder, never played with him, but I take him for a decent player. I reckon he's atleast got the ace and probably two pair. AQ, A9 something like that (maybe even trips?) so I guess I would have to lay it down...having said that I don't know if I could.
From just reading the I would say it's a fold..but at the table I might very well call this (better view of the players and all that, especially Booder).

Standard pass everytime. You have 2 pair and it doesn't even include top. If you want to go broke here good luck to you, but there will be much better spots.

That said, if you know the game is playing fast and loose and you are not prepared to have a gamble with this, then why enter the pot? Good starting cards can not be underestimated in a game like this. You have position, but no idea where you are and have already posted £32 into the pot with Q9o!

good starting cards are a nightmare in a game like this!!!

hence Q9 offsuit in position looking to flop something big. It's checked round and then I hit a hand on the turn and caused myself problems

I passed, putting booder on a set

UTG+1 had a non nut club flush draw

Booder had 97 for smaller two pair

I was ahead

I wasn't after the 7 on the river though to house up Booder, incidentally.

How exactly?Huh??

You are in position and if your post-flop play is good enough not to get married to a hand then it is a standard easy formula for success in these type of games.

Calling raises with no idea where you are is one of the worst plays in poker imo.

Sure they get cracked, but you would have less opponents as you would be bringing it in for a raise.

£32 entered into a pot 'hoping to flop smething big' and only £353 back. 10/1 is the sort of implied odds I might like with a small pair against an opponent who I know can't lay down an overpair if I flop a set, not cold calling speculative bets and hoping to get lucky.

Sorry, but I don't think I can be convinced here.

No problem, it was certainly a peculiar game.
