The $60 dollar Sng's at the MGM were a lottery and a tourney I played at Bally's was just as bad.

I would agree that the tourneys at Ballys are poor, but the $1/2 NLHE cash games are very yummy. As the room is just off the casino floor (near the craps tables) it seems to attract the inebriated who have the urge to just keep chucking $100's down and making rash moves out of position, while they order their next cocktail!

I'm going to vegas in 13 weeks now Smiley Was the TI tourney unlimited rebuys? im not keen on rebuys, gonna go in the $130 freeze out at the mirage though Smiley

If anyone recommends anywhere to play. let me know

Cheeeeers big ears

I like the Venetian... superb room... weekday midday & 8pm tournies... $110 + $15 (I think... $125 anyway) for T1500 chips + $5 (dealers bonus) for T1000 chips + 1 x $50 re-buy for T1500 chips... so $180 total, T4000 chips and either 30 or 40 min clock (July seems so long ago now!!).

35 to 40 runners for the midday tourney when I was there... I believe  they get more for the evening one.

I managed to win at the $1/$2 NL games as well... and I don't consider myself much of a cash game player!

Back again in March 07... can't wait.  Grin

Im going in march too!!!!!!!! what date you going?

I evetually went out in 6th place, when I went all in with pocket 9's again K A.  - $150 for me Smiley

I played a few tourneys last week - some at the LUXOR and Excalibur - I have been playing less than a year and expected the players in vegas to be really good, but at some tables it was almost like they were giving me free chips, some ppl called with anything and then followed it to the river. some went all-in with hands like A 3.

just goes to show how invaluable this forum is for new players!

Sounds about right, some of the poorest play around is found in vegas. The A 3 a classic example, they just love rag aces over there and cant put them down.

Cant wait till I go again in April.

Lots of the tourneys in Vegas allow EITHER 1 rebuy OR a top up. These build the prize pool and give you another chance if you get outdrawn early on. They are good if you dont like standard rebuy tourneys.
Have to look out for the juice though. Most places there just charge a fee, then take the juice off it rather than asking for 10%. In some places they cream as much as 30% off the top. Makes it difficult to come out in profit.

Don't go to vegas if you are going to be a sad git and try to eke a profit out of the small comps, just go there and enjoy yourself, yes the juice is high but look around you! Make sure you get enough of the free drinks!

If you want to play for profit then just stay at home!

Hey, I never said there wasn't profit to be had, just need a little bit of selection Wink
Plenty of time for poker and the attractions of Vegas.
The other Vegas ritual of course - forget sleep, there's too much to do/see!!!!
