Having not played poker much for the last few months i have returned with a renewed vigour and a determination to apply myself a little more.
That's a different story though.

Anyway having seen the mansion comps with excellent added value i decide to play as many as commitments will allow.
I also played in the Tikay comp on paradise tonight BTW.

In all of the above comps a running ante is introduced after level 3 or 4, this is a minor irritant but as the levels go up they really do start to bite, forcing situations you may not ordinarily get involved in.

The point is i suppose, WHAT IS THE POINT?
Tournies can be manipulated by removing levels, altering the clock etc. why use antes at all, most other sites don't and just about every card room in Britain doesn't either.

I think the devil created them to annoy me.
Anybody think they are a good idea?

They are great, they prevent comps from turning into 10BB crapshoots by forcing people to play pots.

Tournaments should have ante's, every major comp in the world has them, most online sites have them

Got to say, having updated tournaments with both styles, it's way more fun to watch with antes.

I love antes, mainly because most players don't adjust when they kick in.

indeed...God Bless Antes..especially at the higher blinds levels where the pots are soo much juicier to pick up when everyone chips in a bit Smiley

love the antes.

i read something that basically said the top players only really get going when the antes kick in, change gears as it were.
