I'm one of your biggest fans Red, but I think comparing this thread to a public hanging is slighty ott.

1: I didn't compare it to a public hanging, I used it as a metaphor to illustrate a point. Don't tell me you don't know the difference.

2: I think saying that we should give thanks for this thread is slightly ott.

If MrsLime wants to act like a school bully, it's hardly surprising when eventually people gang up on him.

If I started a thread saying that I found people's Pokerstars avatars of cats creepy and wrong whilst simultaneously changing my picture on blonde to a big fat kitten (see the parallel between the 'complaint' and the ridiculous parodic font he put it in), I am sure lots of people who have these would find something somewhere to take offense in this.  Honestly, grow some rhino-skin, poker players.

P.S. Ginger, I like your purple writing.

I don't wish to enter into any kind of bickering contest, I just wanted to say that he's a nice guy and doesn't mean to be as mean as he sounds, that's all. Sorry if anyone took offense.

And RED, don't forget that money you owe me. Cheque will be fine.

Whilst I somewhat agree and understand what you are saying Jen, your post wasn't directed at a single player.... whereas MrsLimes post was. You won't find me hiding behind the sofa over this thread, as I couldn't care less what someone's opinions are on a font colour.  But, making assumptions about me based on such a trivial thing and then airing those 'judgements' on a forum is not on.

Yes, and by the same token, If I dissagreed with someone other than those you share a house with, I'm sure you wouldn't feel the need to interupt what you were doing in order to defend them.

Does Mrs Lime not posses this thick skin you speak of? If I have to endure his comments, why should he not endure mine?

I have just come across this thread and am wondering how this got so angry.

When I read Mrs Limes post I thought it was tongue in cheek and didn't at any time think it was directed at Ginger - it hadn't occured to me that Ginger was the only one posting in colour - it just wasn't important to me. In fact I was thinking what a waste of time a poll was and was going to click out of the thread when I realised it was all going awol.

Unless there is history to this that I don't know about I think this may have become a massive understanding - if there is history to this then I apologise for sticking my nose in - I just didnt read this as an acusatory or bullying post.

If anything I think Mrs Lime enjoys the controvesy his post has caused and having lit the touch paper retires and watches the fireworks. Not sure if there is any malice in the original post though.

Is Rhino-skin the equivalent of +5 Leather Armour, going by 3rd Edition D&D rules?

D&D now that brings back some memories of wasted(in more ways than one) evenings as a youth

Here's my two cents (I have a lot of cents, my mum says, but not the common kind):

General discussion threads are often started on totally off topic (and frankly, off the wall) subjects just for a bit of colour.

I doubt very highly that MrsLime really cares whether anyone posts in purple, gold, or redwhiteandblue.  But it has made for an (in my opinion) highly amusing Random Thread.  For which we should give thanks.  I also heard a rumour that he comes from a two-dimensional black-and-white planet called Rix-On-8.

You may carry on now.

With respect Jen, did you not notice by the reaction that a fair number of the members found Mrs Lime's comments on this thread to be discourteous and unpleasant?

Have you not noticed that they see most of his contributions the same way?

Granted, they do attract a lot of attention, and some people even find them amusing, but that would also be true of a public hanging, and like a public hanging, the amusement is at someone else's expense.

For this we should give thanks?

No thanks.
My humour has to be at other peoples expense . I find it impossible to poke fun at myself because im perfect.

What's wrong with pointing out someones spelling mistakes anyway?
The lobby on Tribeca is the place to do it!
People who do not know whether to use lose/loose or loser/looser (a classic example and a particular bugbear of mine) in a conversation may find that being politely informed of their indiscretion can indeed be useful, although they may not realise it at the time and often forget to thank me because they are too busy showing me their repertoire of mis-spelled anglo-saxon adjectives.
While I'm at it, it's  spelled TRIBECA, not any permutation of these letters and a few more added for good measure, a few of the posters on this forum seem unable to understand this including some of the more erudite ones.

If done by PM, fine, in public, we prefer not. Not all of us spell well, & if we are constantly corrected in public, it is likely to deter those less able to spell well from Posting. Folks can be very cruel, you know.

I really don't have a problem with folks spelling "Tribeca" incorrectly.
