Sorry when I said passively, I meant not leading out on the flop, and then not following up with a turn bet after a questionable c/raise.

that one was  ivey bluffing , monte carlo was two bluffers at it, i think monte carlo hand was in a different league

Totally disagree in it being nothing amazing. Id like to see how many others players in the world could get that move past Eric L ,   or even attempt to.

I agree Eric didnt play the hand the greatest but you have to admire Iveys brilliance against one of the best players in the world.

I agree that to me it appears to be more of a bad play by Lingren rather than good play by Ivey but what isn't clear by the clip is what is at stake at the game.

When the clip first starts the chip counts are shown on the screen both Lingren and Ivey have a decent lead over the short stack. If there is a big jump in prize money between 2nd and 3rd or its a poker superstars type format where they get more points for a higher place finish and Lingren needs to finish 2nd or better.

Either way Lingren should be calling both turn and river or passing on the turn and saving 40k.

I just cant see myself how the hell lindgren could put him on a winning hand. It was 3 handed, A 6 must be considered to be the dominating hand (over a pair i the hole) and ivey didnt raise from the small blind. You would surely effect him to t get the pot up if he had a hand. And lindgren did what 2 out of my 3 mates do when we play in a home game. Say i raise with A J on the button. The big blind thinks then calls and an ace hits. I bet out, he thinks and folds (showing an ace). I say to them every time why the hell do you call a raise and when you hit your card still fold. The same applies with the turn and river.if you call on the turn you have to know in your head your calling if a low non-flush card comes. If you know you wont then why do you call on the turn/flop!

It's not like Erik Lindgren's a rank amateur. He's won over 5 million bucks and is a top class player, one of the best.

On the face of it it looks like he made a bad play not calling the river. Always easy to say when you can see their hole cards!

But the players know each other well and there's probably some layers to the hand that we are not aware of. What is noticable though is that lindgren is uncomfortable on the turn and after the hand alludes to the fact that he should've folded on the turn. Ivey's presumably picked up erik's discomfort and decided to represent strength all through the hand. The turn card brought in 2 straights too. Ivey flat called eriks check raise on the flop very quickly, which could have suggested a draw or a trap to lindgren so when the straightening J card turns, and ivey continues to represent strength, he ultimately thinks he's beat.

The bet on the end is not massive, 80k into a 146k pot on a blank river card but lindgren may have felt that as it was a bad card to bluff at, Ivey was just value betting at the end.

It's a cool hand, and although Lindgren makes the "wrong" pass, Ivey definitely did a good job of feigning strength.
