In the High Stakes Poker series, are the players paid an appearance fee?

I know they are playing with their own money, but i am assuming the whole thing is set up by the TV company to make money, and that they invite the players who they know are:

a) High Stake Players
b) Players who will draw a big tv audience

Just wondering if anybody knew.

off the top of my head I think it was $600 per hour or something like that.

$1250 according to Todd Bruson. That was season 1 though, it might have gone up since.
