Often played at cash games in Nottingham Gala although soemtimes high / Low.

Dealers choice keeps it interesting

Played it tonight for the first time in a dealers choice cash game, along with Irish, Lowball and stud Hi Lo - All of which I have never played before.

Mind you, with beginners luck, I walked away just over £500 up Smiley

6 card omaha is the rolls royce of cash games in my opinion. i love it. The betting is usually mental.

Recommend it to anyone.

this is I believe DC's game of choice back from the old days with Shipley and co in Birmingham. Maybe he'll share some of his thoughts with you

Played it a bit...mad....not many hands you can fold pre flop, not many hands you can raise....a real connoiseur's game

My only piece of advice was one which was given to me...if you are drawing, make sure it's drawing to the nuts

Now the other week I played 10 card Irish with discards pre flop, post flop, post turn and post river...Now that was fun!

Was it six cards only?
It's played everywhere around here but the button has choice on how many cards, most go for maximum but i like being the purist and always have 4.
Incidently first time i went to the broadway there was a £100 sit down omaha game, a pal and i decided to go halfs and as i play the game sat down proudly plonking my £100 on the table before looking around and seeing the fella opposite me had £6k+!!
In fact the lowest (other than me) was about £1,800!!
Definitely a game for the deep pockets as it usually costs about £20-£30 to see a flop and that's with £2 blinds!
It is also a very profitable game as you get folks sitting down who aren't very clued up and tend to blow money very quickly.
DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING YOU WILL GET SCALPED!!

Generally 6 Card Omaha is believed to be complete luck or roulette by those who lose at it, but this just isn't true. The beauty of the game is that if you are playing deep stacked then you have to make decisions before the flop, on the flop, on the turn and on the river. Whereas with NLH most money goes in before the flop or on the flop. When playing 6 card over a long period, the best poker players will usually end up with the dough.

The best piece of advice has already been mentioned in this thread. If you are going to draw, only ever draw to the nuts. Also you must count those 'outs' and know pot odds. And don't expect top trips to win more than 50% of the time
