I ve just realised what i hate most on blonde and thats the quote in grey thing, if you read this thread its 70% re quotes of requotes, do we really need them?
(not aimed at anyone just notice this thread could be 4 pages shorter)

Quote's dont increase the page numbers.
Are you sure Flushy?

15 posts a page.

15 You say!

Is it 15?

It has a 5 & a 1 in there, Cant be 51 can it?

51 is exactly a quarter of 222.

Now that is good math.

It's from a reliable source...

This is the 15th post on this page,  I wonder if Flushy was right?

This should answer it... Smiley

Guess it does.

Doesn't answer why 51 is a quarter of 222 though...

You guys have very little to moan about.

After 15 months of live updates I have heard more bad beat stories than you can barely imagine.

However, I never just walk away from them, because that is rude when all they are looking for is a little bit of sympathy from a fellow human being.

Therefore, I just humour them by saying something like "Yep, that sucks" because (1) it doesn't take much effort from me and (2) it makes them feel better.

Would it really hurt if you just saw that it was a bad beat and just posted "Hard luck, not much you can do there".

At least then you can move on to another thread knowing that you did a good deed in the last and made a fellow blondeite feel better about themselves.

Good post snoopy.

But dont be silly, certain people will see it as an oppotunity to "take the piss" when someone is down - just for their own amusement.

(ps good to know it can happen the other way round as well Smiley)

But there is so much more that they can do there, just offering a message of sympathy wont really change anything in the long run.

More often than not when a bad beat is posted on the forum its usually one that has eliminated someone from a tourney or broken someone on a cash game table. Instead of posting the bad beat the person in question should be looking at ways to avoid the situation happening again - trying to ensure that if they suffer a bad beat that they still have sufficient chips to continue to play their a-game be it in a tournament or at the cash game tables.

So instead of people feeling sorry for themselves and looking for sympathy or feeling angry at their opponents for making that awful call against them (which is actually what every poker player wants!) they need to be figuring out a strategy to try and avoid the bad beats breaking them. Its unlikely they will find this on a public forum unless they start posting full tounament or cash game hand histories.

Yes bad beats will continue to happen as whenever you are all in and not holding the absolute nuts with no cards to come, there is a chance you can get beat. Personally i welcome them as the more bad beats i suffer the more i should win in the long run as it means i'm constantly getting my money in with the best hand.

I'll admit that it helps having a good friend who also plays poker as it means we can bounce ideas off each other and although we swore we would never tell each other bad beat stories sometimes the occasional one gets in but we always disguise it under the pretence "ok, so tell me how would you play this....." Cheesy

I understand that some people dont have someone they can talk to and therefore a forum is the only means of communication that they have with other poker players. Unfortunately i feel that more often than not a bad beat section isn't used sparingly by someone who wants opinions on how to play a hand it, instead it ends up full of posts from the same people over and over again who think the whole poker world is against them and that they are being punished by the poker gods for doing something awful in a past life.

Yes all poker players suffer from bad luck from time to time but there comes a point at which people have to ask themselves the question "maybe the losing streaks aren't all down to bad luck" - i know you have snopoy.................

I'm quite lucky when it comes to this whole bad beat story telling thing.

When my GF is at home and I'm playing, all I have to do is step out of the room where I play and have a cig (I can see my screen from the area where I am allowed to smoke) and I can relay it to her. I know she doesn't really care but she understands basic poker stuff and is always willing to just go "ouch that sucks"...or "Well it only happens 1 every 4 times you said so you'd better get back to playing soon".

There is a lot to be said for living with someone who really cares about you and doesn't mind humouring you a few times a day by feigning interest Smiley
