Gk0: raises to 21864 and is all-in
Weih30101: folds

KautoStar: calls 20664

This hand was from the 12K tonight, thought it was very marginal at the time and took my time to make the call.  Anyone think this is clear either way?   Both players I know are competent players, the way I justified it is that Andyfish has a massive range, and Gk0's range is just big enough to merit a call with AK.  I also have 23K if i lose which was the average stack at the time.

Any opinions?

I think id pass in this spot, if you say he is a decent player, then he should be aware that all 3 players left to act can bust him so i think the chances of you dominating him are slim, most likely a race, sometimes you have the same hand. A lot of the power of AK comes from re-raising somebody and putting the pressure on, i wouldnt like to call 1/2 my stack after raise and re-raise fully aware im racing at best, i dont think u need to take this gamble at this point. Later in the tournamnet say 2 tables out, then a lot id be a lot more likely to call as id be looking to get in shape and win the whole thing. I dont think calling is a terrible play by any stretch of the imagination, but I would pass the majority of the time

Cheers pab.  Kinda regretted it straight after.  I would never call for all my chips in this spot (if i had 20K or something), but maybe a little early as you say.  There was around 24 left at this stage so it was around the stage I normally go for a stack.

By passing you are still very comfortable in chips and think you can build a stack by pressuring every1 else atm, as you said it is a tough spot.

I disagree when you said you would never call your stack if you had like 20k, I think id be more inclined to gamble at that point, with the blinds going up soon i imagnine and leaving you around the 10BB mark. I would rather preserve my big stack and keep playing small pots than call off a massive chunk preflop. Just my style.

I just went on to win the comp so the call didn't hurt me too badly Smiley Smiley

BTW: Andyfish had AA and Gk0 JJ.  I missed, AA trebled up.  We were also the final 3, quite wierd.

well played chief, nice result. I would have passed in that spot with AK but you still sealed the deal.
