shove pre would also do this with any pair, any two face cards and any ace. worth the risk to increase ur stack by nearly 50%

The pre flop shove is a total non starter IMHO. No-one will convince me otherwise.

If you believe this, then what is the point of the post? Cheesy

I wanted to know what people thought about the "all in" post flop as opposed to just flat calling?

Something I've been meaning to ask for ages.

What does "FYP" mean?

what about the guy who has limped in early?

why has he done that when he only has about 20,000 himself?  I was unable to answer that question so I am not willing to just shove it in and hope for the best.

early pos - kq? kj? could be a player who is inexperienced and/or someone who does not understand the game as good as you.

Very true

or it could be someone with AA, KK, QQ etc.. praying someone raises it.

We are it the "all in or fold" stage of the tournament and so an early limper is far more suspicious than normal.

The point is I didn't know which it was, so why shove all my chips in and hope for the best?

if hes got aa kk qq its not your day, i feel jacks is not strong enough to do this with. if you know the player it would make the situation alot easier.

Exactly so why not just call and see what the flop brings?

I'm on the button next hand and I'll still have the same number of chips (well 1,000 less)

I'm getting 7:1 odds here to call and try and flop a set. If the BB suddenly raises then I can just pass and no harm done

for me the time to gamble is when your gamble takes you into 1st place with only 5 or 6 players left.

The point is I didn't know which it was, so why shove all my chips in and hope for the best?

But 7/8 times you aren't going to hit the flop. I'd rather increase my stack by 50% preflop. If mid-pos limper has a big pair so be it. with 9BB's you can't afford to play cautiously in spots like this and wait for a more favourable occasion.

why can't I ?

If I just limp in and the flop comes A K T I am finished with the hand and I have gone from 19,000 to 18,000. No real harm done.

I am now on the button.

I don't see how my situation has got any worse. In Fact I'd argue it is better.

Your not exactly progressing towards the top though are you, by playing this passive in a crap shoot you will constantly find yourself the short stack pushing to double up to where you were 1/2 an hour ago praying your 60/40's hold.
