Not sure if you can see the detail or text on the Honours Board, but it's the big 7 Card Stud Championship they have held here for many years. The 1999 winner is listed as Paul Alterman - you may have heard of him, his wife is the player in the family,  but Paul can play a bit, too, and the 2000 winner is "Philip Hellmuth", who'd be unbeatable if there was no luck in poker. it amazes me that a truly brilliant player - as he is - cannot come to terms with outdraws after playing for so long.

If you click on the little paper-clip UNDER the pic, it makes the pic nice & big, & you can see the text better. And stop yawning, I'm talking.

Martin Pollak OUT in 10th, winning €8,208 after a very lengthy cagey period of short-stack doubleups and re-raised folding.  Just when I was coming down for tea, small blind Abel Meijberg made a raise to commit big blind Martin, and after a lengthy think he went for it.

Abel showed  th , Martin  ks qc.

The board came out (slowly)  jh tc js and Mr. Pollak was out of the tournament.  They're just rearranging the final nine on their final table, on which they will stay until the 9th place goes out, at which time it's Day Over for us, and TV time tomorrow.

The "Matey Boy" Tighty refers to, is someone I just know as "Henry". WHAT a character he is, a wonderful experience to share a table with him. He's a great chip-getter & chip distributor. Anyone know what the prefix before his name (on the Honours Board) stands for? He always strikes me as  being a Diplomat or summat. Deffo not a butcher.

Yes, players are trickling in for the 7-stud event which they praise highly.  Sverre Sundbo says he would have liked to give it a go, but travel arrangements got in the way etc etc.  Incidentally, Sverre's favourite game is 7-stud hi-lo.  So there you go.  Pity there's not a huge range of places and events to play it in, eh.

But the Seven-studders are descending on the casino; the central area is Closed between 5 and 7pm (I rather think this is where the final of the EPT is right now - that's going to be interesting) and Henry Nowakowski (who won it in '97) was asking if we were updating it... I think we may be having a little rest.  But if anything really interesting happens, I am sure it will sneak on.

Henry Nowakowski is a property magnate from Germany

Co-incidentally, a Henry Nowakowski was once US Ambassador to the UK, I seem to remember

Morten Jensen OUT in 9th place, receiving €13,680 and bringing today's action to a close.

His final hand was the  , which he moved in with, finding Abel Meijberg all-in over the top with  ad kh.  The King came on the flop, and there was no recovery for the Danish player.  Everyone else is coming back tomorrow to play for the cameras.

A sign of the times?

The Final 8 includes 3 Norwayers, a Finn, 2 Swedes, a Dane, and a Dutchman. Extraordinary!

We should never forget that my good friend Abel 'lucky fish with perfect face for radio' Mayberg was all-in on day one with AQ vs QQ and rivered a straight, and now he's chip leader going into the final 8.
Go figure...
