it looks to me like people that play a lot of poker are really good at putting up with crap sleeping schedules. You enter a tourney at 8pm and if you go very deep you leave at 2 or 3 am. Do you just get up the normal time the next day and put up with the tiredness to keep up a schedule, or do you always try for enough sleep? Seems like cash professionals are just total night owls, would this be right?

Normal sleeping times for me would be somehwere of the region of 7am - 9am till 1-3pm. But now its getting stupidly light in the morning i might have to change it back a couple of hours. Although this is hard if i go deep in any of the stars 1am tourns.

Im a bit of an insomniac sometimes and only require around 5-6 hours sleep most nights, which i guess is good as a poker player.

One of poker's problem is that it has been presnted as a nocturnal game, when most of us are day creatures.

I agree tikay, you should push for pokerdaylive. people have enough problems with bad winter sunlight in the UK then when it comes they're tucked up in their beds anyhow.
Suppose it depends on how u handle too litte sleep or sleep at a bad time.

Top tip for making millions at poker: play me when I have had too little sleep. I can hardly remember the hand rankings.

My sleep pattern goes something like sleep at 5-7am and get up at 3-4...this goes on for a few months, then i think to myself sort ur sleep pattern out man!!! After this i randomly decide to stay awake one night so i can go to sleep at a normal time the following night. After all this malarkey, i start goin to sleep later and later until im back to where i am now. Crazy i know but at least i get to sleep in!

Ps...as im typing this jus been knocked out of a tourny set over set. Beautiful game.

My sleeping patterns are the worst.

I just go to sleep when im tired, wake up when im not.  Could be anytime of the day.  Usually for 7-9 hours. Wink

3 months ago I suddenly turned into my dad, up at 6am, asleep before midnight. Try as I might, I can't break this cycle. It might help if I could get further than the first break in live events, but alas no. I'm tucked up in bed with my teddy before they take the 25 chips off.

Sleeping with Teddy Sherringham won't increase your profile in the poker community.  Now if it was Tikay that would be a different matter...

Mrs Red wears the teddy that I'm tucked up with.
