Well its the Brighton festival next week. My live results are excellent.
The last Brighton festival I chopped 3 events and took away £8500

But some of you missed the point, she's good live player who's been stuffed on line, hence, I assume, bankroll, issues.

Robert,
I think u r missing the point, no-one really wants to back players with 'bankroll problems' unless they are name players. She is not a name player and the actual stakes involved are small for live events so why would anyone part with their dosh.
If I wanted to put money into this event I would enter myself (dont need backers) and keep 100% of my winnings.
Also have you considered that last years decent show was a fluke and she has been living off it ever since?

Hey I promised no Moustache jokes, not fair for you to dangle one under my nose... (<- that wasn't a moustach joke honstly
)
Is this written right?? If it wasn't a moustache joke, what do you want dangling under your nose?

Thrapton, no, because she's done well before.
However I hear what you say and I'm sure she'll take your "no" in good spirits

This all brings an interesting point - isn't it the person's business what they do with winnings/if they ask for backers? Everyone is very quick to judge, as Robert said, and assumes wrongly that people are pants if they ask for backers, for small amounts!
I for one would love to be able to back a good player in a comp I wouldn't do well in, or couldn't attend, but I can't do big backings cause I don't have that sort of cash to give out like that, so something like this would be perfect for the likes of me!
It's all a bit off really!
Mel, I am sorry this has degenerated into a bit of a bash on you!
it's possibly a good idea if people think before they judge IMHO

IMHO, there is no obligation to back this lady, neither is there any reason to be derogatory

This is ridiculous.
I have neither been derogatory or personal.
If someone goes on a public forum asking for money off strangers I feel I have a right to question it, especially when they are boasting of winnings then asking for sums that are a fraction of those winnings, maybe I should just have been facetious like dpommo.
I notice it is the 'Global Moderators' who seem to be jumping to this ladys' defence and doing a bit of Thrap bashing, is she a friend or connected to this site?

I wasn't being derogatory. Not in the least!
As has already been pointed out in these posts that I, and others, merely question an individual who claims to have won £8500 and still needs backing in relatively small events.
If this person, whom I don't know from Adam by the way, had have come to this forum and asked for backers for an EPT event (like Simon Trumper did) then I can understand the reasoning for this...£8500 win or not.
Its like all the posts that go on RGP which read 'please put $1 in my PS account'...its sad to see!
Just my opinion.

Some of the best players in the world have gone skint for one reason or another and been backed so it took courage to ask for this. If I hadn't had such a bad run lately I would buy a peice but I'm in a similar position. Another thread ends up with people chipping- what is blonde coming to?
hope your luck changes soon mel.

There's been quite a lot of percentage buy threads on Blonde
This is by no means a first
I'm jumping to anyone's defence who has been attacked - Thrapton I'd jump to your defence if you were attacked and didn't deserve it - I'm not fussy

Thrapton - players who regularly play on the circuit tend to help each other out, she is not linked to the site but a friend of alot of the regulars on here which I assume who the post was aimed at.
Mark can't believe I am bothering to respond to you but just because you don't know her from Adam doesn't mean she isn't a known player. She has played a lot of the high profile events this year and done a lot of work for sponsors (she has also been on TV games on at least 3 occasions this year). The comment about allegedly winning £8500 is just ludicrous- check the results and they are there in black and white. £8500 may be a lot of money to you and would probably get you into alot of 10 or 20 rebuys in ireland but to play circuit events it wouldn't even cover a months expenses/buy ins.
