I came from the same place in Ireland my distant relative did many moons ago.  He's something like my great great great cousin.

wow Acidmouse, your related to Matthew Brady, he's one the most important figures in the history of American photography. His photographs of the American Civil War were hugely influential, he's one of the first "photojournalists". His portrait of Abraham Lincoln is an iconic image of American history.

Yep he has same name as me Smiley and my Grandfather and I believe his nephew who was my great great grandfather.

I have investigated into and read/looked at alot of his stuff, the civil war pictures are amazing and how he pushed photography into new places.

My ancestors worked really hard to provide me with the means to spunk all my cash away on a frivalous game of cards!

On a more serious note god knows what they did, but it was enough to have an application for emmigration in the 90s declined!
