Definitely fills a whole in the left-hand side, and can always slot in as a other striker.

Wages were always going to be high with no signingion fee.

Cole has quoted as saying one of the reasons he had left Chelsea is so he can play in a more central role elsewhere

the reason he left chelsea is that they wouldnt pay him what he wanted, nor would arsenal and nor would spurs, thats why he's gone to liverpool anyone else thinks otherwise is seriously dilluded.

tottenham would have been a better choice for him where he woulda had champions league football and redknapp would have played him regularly in a position he likes but for £30k less a week it wasnt happening!

a good signing for liverpool if they can keep the other big names around him but no messiah like the media like to report lol

Maybe he wouldn't have got as many games in the position he wanted at Spurs?

Compared to Riera, Babel, Ngog  - he's pretty close to the messiah.

Do you reckon he's a better player than Benny Noon?  If he is, we've got a great deal (figures are approx.):

So, we sell Benny Noon for £6 million and save £50k a week = £2.5 million a year.
We sign Cole for £0 and costs £100k a week = £5 million a year

So he's paid for for at least two years and we have a better player into the bargain?

Actually, thinking about it - the quotes about him wanting to play in the middle were before he signed.

So maybe he had 90,000 reasons per week to accept that he'll be used on the left.  We'll have to wait and see...

A fantastic signing, if he can stay fit.

He really is a great player when he is fit, just havent seen much of him in the last season or 2.

I think it's a good signing for Cole as well. I mean his form has been patchy last couple of seasons, injuries, no show in the world cup. His form from a couple of years ago has got him 100k a week at one of the world's biggest clubs. The guy will be playing for a manager renown for getting the best out of his players, and playing for a club that's in desperate need of a lift. He's got every chance to shine there and he'll be loved if he does. Not a bad deal for joseph imo.

Very true.  Probably going to be his last big move as well, as it's a 4-year contract and he's 28  (I think).  Although if it doesn't work out, I guess he could move on in a year or so.  It's a good move for all imo, hope he can stay fit (along with Torres, who will hopefully stay at Liverpool).

I don't watch Prem footie but is £40 a ticket not pretty standard?
£40 for a top half team isn't that bad when championship teams can be upwards of £25

Between £26 and £37 to watch Leicester at home this season. The Liverpool prices are probably 20% lower than what I would have guessed at.

I don't know what others charge - just know that it's a decent increase.

I know others charge more, but still..it's not cheap.

Could be good, but that was a pretty serious injury he had so can't see him having much impact tbh. Hope I'm wrong for all the nice liverpool fans here

STEVEN Gerrard today committed his future to Liverpool FC.

The Reds skipper ended months of speculation as he welcomed the signing of Joe Cole from Chelsea and admitted he cannot wait to play alongside him.

The news will come as a massive boost to Liverpool supporters - the second in 24 hours.

Gerrard said of Cole: "It is a great signing for us. I know Joe well through the England set-up and have seen first hand just how good a player he is.

"He has proved his ability over many years in the Premier League - sometimes against us - so it will be fantastic to play alongside him in a red shirt for Liverpool."

Gerrard, who has been at Anfield since he was eight years old and has never in recent seasons expressed any desire to leave despite the speculation this summer, added: "I've told him what a great club this is and I'm sure Joe's the sort of exciting talent our fans will love to see. I made it clear that I simply needed to concentrate on the World Cup and then have a decent holidaty with my family.

"I wanted the chance to meet Roy Hodgson privately and having done so, I'm very impressed with his plans for the future."

I realise top 4 is the priority this season, but this squad isnt too far from the squad that started the season last year.

Which positions do you think need upgrading to get a top 4 finish this season and what would we need for a run at the title, assuming Torres, Stevie and Mascha are all staying
