If Joey Barton had done it versus us I'd be going feral. It's not clear cut either way but I can see why the ref gave it.

Not really.  I've seen Stevie G do far worse and not get worse than a yellow.  It was mis-timed, but never two-footed, and he didn't put his studs through him.

Anyway, guess it means Aquilani will get an opportunity to show his mettle and try and show Woy why he deserves a place in the starting XI.

I can see why the ref gave the red and that is why we didnt appeal the sending off. I think Stevie was lucky to stay on, but i also think they should of had a couple booked in the 1st half for diving

J Cole to play Thursday, Aqualani to play the league games, might help Roy out of a tough decision or two and allow players to find fitness

I'm a bigger fan of Lucas than most, obviously he's not as good as Mascherano but Mascherano is probably the best out and out DMC in the game today.

Close but i'd just rather Mascherano as he's the best at what is now a specialist position.

Different players imo,Alonso has a lot of strings to his bow,I was talking out and out DMC's,otherwise obviously Essien>>>>>>>>>Mascherano as well.

As the ball passing midfielder he's the very best IMO. Masch is purely destroyer and in that category he's my pick.

It's a shame the 4-2-3-1 has categorised midfielders into just destroyer, passer or librero in the hole. Scholes was at least two of these, so is Essien but it's becoming so rare. Maybe Wilshere to be the next Scholes?

Fair comment,as for Wilshire couldn't comment as I've only seen 5mins of him in Charity Shield.

Lots going on.

Cavalieri out.
Babel possibly going.
Insua move still on the cards.
Leverkusen confirm Hyypia wanted to come back to us which tells me when his contract is done next summer he'll be our assistant manager as planned by Hodgson this summer.
We're linked with about 3 strikers daily.
Mascherano almost certain to go now that Inter have money.

Takeover unlikely to happen in August so no marquee signing.
