The FA (quite rightly) take it far more seriously than FIFA and Blatter.

Blatter's comments sure matter when the charge is by the FA.

Well when the leader of the game's governing body doesn't take it too seriously, you can only hope that is reflected in the FA's stance. In any case I can't see how the FA could charge Suarez without any shred of evidence so I'd be seriously worried if I was a Liverpool fan.

Why would you think there's no evidence?

I am guessing they will have something or they wouldn't have charged him. Whether it's actually any good or not is obviously  a different matter.

Blatter is obv a joke and the sooner someone at the FA actually calls him a corrupt and bungling idiot (and uses those words) the better.
Escalate this thing and get him the hell out of there.

The voting system at FIFA also needs to be changed as I don't see why Trinidad and Tobago and similar countries should have as big a say in electing someone as Germany, England, Brazil, Spain etc. should have.

True but surely you're not suggesting that other FIFA members go to places like that on freebies and are only nice to those non-countries because they are susceptible to bribes?

Agree the way it is voted should be changed, but how elitiest is your suggestion?!

One member's vote isn't worth less than another's surely?

Yes it is. Do you really think that the vote of a country with <1mill people where hardly anyone plays footie should carry the same weight as a country with 60mill people where footie is the national game?

That just doesn't make any sense to me.

Is Suarez a racist, I don't think so.  Is he an idiot, yes I do think so.  Will he be severely punished by the FA, yes most probably.

Is Sepp Blatter a complete tool - absolutely.

Is the cliffs that he called him a word that sounds naughty and referred to Evra's colour but in spanish speaking countries is regarded as a non-racist acceptable word?

The word is 'Negrito' - and there's an interesting post here about its usage:  http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=75515201#post75515201

Apparantly, Fergie has been ramping up his mumblings about Suarez being punished, etc.  What's interesting is this:

For those who don't read Spanish;

It's a 2007 (!) article with the following bit in it;

Quote
Chicharito' Hernández, emphasizes the goal scored yesterday by another youth as Omar Esparza in the victory before Tiger: ' I really liked the goal of the Negrito (Omar Esparza), I think it is a sign that the youth of Chivas, ready to respond in important games as the Liguilla. For my part I will keep working with humility to win me a chance.

Boshi, boshi boshibosh. I know you're keen on defending Suarez, and every other LFC player, but surely you know that Hernandez talking about a team mate (Who has the "negrito" nickname, is a friend and isn't black!!) might be different from a LFC player calling a ManU player "Negrito" when playing against eachother. Yes, it might be different.  But just because the word sounds like a word that's highly offensive in English I'm not sure that means it has the same meaning.

If he said something racist, then he deserves to be punished.

I agree of course..but somehow doubt that Suarez has started to give ManU players nice little nicknames.

From a Peruvian friend I've spoken to about it, he says the word doesn't carry the racist connotations to him - it's more of a dig at Evra's height!

so from his lofty 5'11" Suarez refers to 5'8" Evra as a little what exactly?
