I think Liverpool will be punished today.

Been a close first half with both teams having decent possession and chances. See what the second half brings.

Closer than I expected.

But here comes Super Mario . . . .

...and there he goes.

Would have taken 1-1 before the match, but had chances to win that one and had more pressure towards the end than Citeh were exerting, even before Balotelli was sent off.

Good result for Liverpool.

Good performance too.

Lucas, absolutely imperious today.

Oh, and Adam showed excellent value for the £7m he cost Liverpool. Him and Lucas very impressive partnership in the middle.

Great result and superb 2nd half performance.

Aresnal, Chelsea, Spurs all done away
Both Mancs at home done.

Pretty good start..get rid of the sily results, Norwich / Swansea...and very much in the mix.

KINBOSHI EXCLUSIVE UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOUR:

Adam will be having a medical at Liverpool at 4pm today.

How much are you going to be paying for him then?

Up to £8m according to appearances apparently.

That's a good deal

For Blackpool
Looks like a bargain at the moment. I thought he was excellent for most of the game today and Suarez is virtually impossible to play against.

Amusing from @JimBoardman

Hypocrisy alert: the Independent's James Lawton is in raptures about #lfc today.
Under the headline "This Liverpool may rekindle the Anfield cauldron of old", he asserts that:

"This was the quorum of a team which can indeed make a serious challenge for a place in next season's Champions League. Their product was football which took us back to those days at Anfield when there was beyond the sum of individual talent an over-riding sense of players who had been taught to believe not only in their cause but their own ability to make a significant contribution...Dalglish is not exactly short of vital encouragement. Not after the day his team harassed so profoundly the world's most expensive football team."

He must therefore be full of contempt for the writer of the following, which appeared before the Chelsea game, headlined, "Dalglish's street-smart attitude can't disguise Liverpool shabbiness":

"As messiahs go, Dalglish may have a longer shelf-life than most but slightly less than a year into his assignment some uncomfortable arguments are beginning to surface...while street smartness may serve some purposes, it probably doesn't include addressing the stirrings of a perhaps seriously challenging problem...Unfortunately, the unsayable is beginning to be said because for all the signings, all the old excitement of a club on the move, the now unavoidable truth is that the records of Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson are not exactly separated by a chasm that might readily explain the joy with which one was received and the contempt that went into the dispatching of the other."

The writer, of course, was also James Lawton.

From an unavoidable truth, a serious problem, to football from the glory days and a serious challenge for the title, all in the space of a week.

It proves that the simple-minded, knee-jerking Twitterers might not be as stupid as they seem -- you can make big money by writing this vacillating crap for a living.

At the moment, Liverpool.  The team is gelling more and more, and there's still Gerrard to come back into the side and hopefully Carroll to show why he was worth the big money.

Arsenal are obviously a decent side as well, but seem to be very reliant on the excellent Van Persie - and not sure how effective they'd be without him if he gets injured, suspended, etc. Still too early to say really, but I think Liverpool could just shade it. Obviously it's only November, but it's difficult to say in what order Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and even Chelsea will finish.  They're a lot closer than many might have thought at the start of the season.  Spurs looking the most consistent so far at producing the results, Chelsea still have a strong squad but have stumbled a little recently.

For the title I think it's a one-horse race, but it's probably daft to write off manu at this stage.  I just can't see Citeh dropping points all that often, and they'll be putting a lot of sides to the sword as they have been so far.

It's early doors, but of course Newcastle can't be discounted from a top 6 finish, but I think top 4 will be a bit of a stretch.  But it's a funny old game.

This, very surprised as I didn't think he would prove himself to be this good for LFC.

Very impressed with him.

Kenny not too happy about the League Cup match being scheduled two days after a league match:
