Time to sack the king?
He's having problems at the moment, but like I've said all along he'll get three seasons at least to get the club challenging again. The new signings haven't bedded in anywhere near as well as expected, with the exception of Jose Enrique (who had his worst game in a red shirt last night). There's some bad luck there, but obviously some blame goes on the manager and Comolli as well as the players themselves. Henderson's attempt to defend the corner which Derry scored from was absolutely pathetic. Honestly think it's the first time Derry has won a header in the oppositions box since he's been at QPR. Enrique's attempt to clear for the last goal was comedy obviously, but an individual miskick is forgiveable. A complete lack of effort and bottle defending a corner isn't forgiveable imo. Actually manage to score some goals for once, and then the defending falls apart. Skrtel and Jose Enrique have been Liverpool's best two players this season (by a long way), and both decided to make two big errors in the same game last night. Credit to QPR though, they didn't just lay down and die at 0-2 down. The sort of performance at the end that could keep them in the Premier League.

I think the net spend number should only be of interest to beanies/investors. From a footballing perspective - if you spend £100m and that £100m of players doesn't really ensure you become a more competitive side then there's a lot of fail involved. I mean we're not playing football manager, we just want our team to get better.
I think Arsene Wenger is ace but I don't like to see poor buys defended based on overall net spend stats. Just because fortunes are received for Fabregas, Anelka et al, it does not make Mertesacker, Chamakh etc into good buys. It's still money badly spent.

Yeh this whole net spend this is stupid. He has bought badly. They've won the Championship cup after scraping it on penalties and it's simply papering over the fact that they've made abso no progress in the league.
Keep him I say

Does Comolli not complicate things? Kenny has "spent" 100mil but is anybody sure which signings were his and which weren't?

Those who want to ignore 'net spend' are missing the point.
If you sell a midfielder and get another in, and they are of similar ability then the net gain to the team is zero. You can't just say that the club spent £10M or £20M on a new player.

Kenny 'spent' 100m to improve a squad that lost about 70m of talent so for that you would expect a slight improvement on last season and I think he's done that.

Good post nirvana.
Perhaps it would be prudent for fans to have more of an interest in the economics of their clubs these days what with all the liquidation cases. But then again if you played Top Trumps and "net spend" was the banker stat for your current team it would be meh.

So Liverpool didn't have to sell any players to buy the ones they did? The 'net gain' to the squad is obviously less if you have to sell a decent player to buy another decent player, rather than just buying the decent player. Of course, you buy donkeys that doesn't help.

Liverpool need a goal-scorer this summer. Carroll has lived up to many people's expectations of him, and Suarez isn't an out-and-out goal-scorer. Good article about how Suarez needs to play with a proper goal-scoring striker here: http://tomkinstimes.com/2012/03/luis-suarez-9-or-10/
