Blatter is a twat:  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/players/luis-suarez/10943083/Luis-Suarez-praised-by-Sepp-Blatter-for-fair-play-as-Pele-gives-backing-to-four-month-ban.html

I notice that his ban on training has now been lifted, just in time for him to join his teammates in Barcelona. Happy coincidence for those concerned...

Reina to return next season?

No one seems to want him or afford his wages.

I'd be happy to see him stay and fight mignolet for the jersey.

Won't happen. His parting letter last summer means he's gone for good. Brenda won't have him back.

£71m.

That's what's going round as the agreed fee. No Sanchez.

We pay him £1m a month. If we sell him now at £75m before paying him for 4 months for not playing I'm pretty happy.

I think you need to take into account the new financial position of Premier League teams in general when assessing player prices. The TV deal secured a year or two ago was obscene. raheem sterling is a player of significant potential, has shown end product at an extremely young age, and is English. The last point is massive as English players come with a huge premium due to their marketing potential. He's 18-19? Similar to Luke Shaw, he's very low risk, excluding injury, in the sense he could be easily sold on for £20-25m if her has a poor year or two. Anyone who has watched him would agree it's unlikely he's going to drop in performance level too dramatically. If a 27 year old Lallana is going for 23m then to sell Sterling for 31m would be crazy - 8 years junior and already picked above him for England. The football economy, particularly in England, is detached from real life - 31m is not 'that' much in comparison to what the market is paying for the best players, and certainly isn't enough to sell the best young player you've had come through since Gerrard when you've finally just got back into the Champions League! Not to mention the signal it sends out to players who might be considering joining.

Great post. Player value is not what it was since this new TV deal.

With regards to Lallana, a lot of talk that we actually paid 16m for him with the rest being potential add ons. The view on this is based on comments from Bournemouth that they've received 4m (which would be their 25% cut of the 16m).

Its amusing how clubs use the media these days to try and twist things in their favour.

For example today - Liverpool media publish the story that the club bid £20 million for Lovren which was rejected. Journalists close to Southampton have come out this evening and have said the figure is way short of that number hence why it was rejected out of hand.

In the Lallana case - there was all sorts of backwards and forwards about numbers - how much was upfront, performance related etc.

I guess we will never really know - both clubs in these sorts of transfers want to paint themselves in a good light and show they are getting a good deal to the fans.

I expect Lovren to go in the region of £20-£25 million. Feel like Saints have got excellent value for all three players to Liverpool this year from numbers reported that I am inclined to believe.

Ryan Bertrand for £6m apparently is a done deal. £14m less than Liverpool were willing to offer for Moreno - so what's happening there?

Not seen that much of Bertrand to be honest,  hopefully he'll be a Sturridge and go from relatively unused sub at one club to one who delivers at Liverpool. Assuming the deal actually happens.
