he is def on his way when spurs trounce you next week
but im with george - def want him to stay - he won the Champs League with Houliers team and has since destroyed anything they had.
That team sheet a few pages back is a joke, and any true red will look at it and die a little inside.
1 player playing for the badge (stevie) - 10 playing for the cash! - Football teams dont work like that - you have to want to play for the badge to compete at the highest level
Compare the side Rafa inherited with the one now.
I know which one is superior.
...you also say one player playing for the badge, the rest playing for cash. Then in a subsequent post you mention both Carra and Gerrard as players who play for the badge. So either you're making stuff up, or your maths sucks. By the way, I'd add Pepe and Torres as players who are playing for more than the money, but what would I know as a deluded Liverpool fan?
fwiw - i dont believe that caragher was cited on the team mnetioned a few pages back - that was my point
and if you think your team are playing for the badge after that display yesterday - then i am afraid that yes buddy - you are deluded - they should all offer to play for nothing until they win 3 games on the bounce
Maybe you should try watching some games instead of giving damning criticisms based on you watching highlights and then regurgitating what the radio5 live commentator said.
99% of professional footballers care, they all want to win,the same as anybody who has ever played any decent amount of football at any level wants to win, being paid a huge salary doesn't change that fact.
And i'm sure 99% of the Liverpool players want to win,it just happens that all but 5/6 of them are not good enough to win as often as they are expected to.

Haha this is exactly what came to my mind when reading those "playing for the badge" comments. I am pretty sure that phrase was invented on 606 and other football radio phone ins.
"Hi Alan, I listened to the game today on the radio and thought Stevie G, was the only one playing for the badge" in a West Country accent.

P.S
Arsenal fact. Wenger has won bugger all since Benitez lifted the European cup in 05 & he's finished above Liverpool once since.
Just saying.

Interesting fact.
Although I'm sure I'm with all Liverpool fans when I say we'd have loved to have Wenger at Liverpool, along with the success he's had. Possibly more importantly (probably not though as fans are usually results-orientated), we'd have loved to see the 'brand of football' he's brought to Arsenal at Liverpool.

So which clubs do have the highest net spend over the past 4 seasons
My biggest disappointment in Rafa is he has spent money on kids for the acedemy over the years but not brought any of them through except maybe Insua now

Sold Berbatov for a hefty chunk of profit. If i had to take the bet, I would bet on Spurs having spent less than Liverpool in the Benetiz era.

Rafa just fuck off now plz. I hope we get absolutely destroyed by spurs and continue to do so until he gets sacked.
Oh and plz keep him away from any cameras it made me feel so uncomfortable just listening to him, i wonder how the players felt listening to a guy who is supposedly in charge talk like a a 6 yr old on national/world tv.
Baron you must be Rafa's biggest fan cos in reality he has done nothing but slowly kill us and you keep on pulling out figures how much he has bought in for the club
and how our budget is the 4th biggest in the league. He has bought so many duff players, this was from a rafa interview...he was basically saying the club needed
wingers but the top quality one's were 20-30m, so he felt we should buy offensive full backs to compensate. Now that is just retarded, you get the best attacking full
back of the last 20 years CAFU you play him wide right he would be abs shit...obv when your playing full back your facing the play but as a wide man its a completely
different position.
Try to get rid of Xabi so he could get Barry just motherfuckin LOL, sticking with ave players in the hope that his dumb ass signings might come good, leaving babel
out the squad totally when we have most of our attackin players injured and sticks with Ngog who shouldnt be playing first team football atm. Im fuming and most of
this wont make sense but whatever the fuck ever...biottom line rafa go get anyone in charge but rafa who doesnt give the same interview every time and picks his
best team.
We are a joke.
It's harder to find a player he's lost money on that gained money on - so yes I am agreeing there are a lot of duds - but there is also a method to some of the duds and young players he's bought. ie to go from the side we had to this side with only £14m per season is pretty good imo. He could have just bought five 14 million pound players as some fans would want - then where would we be? It's a total shithouse six months don't get me wrong, and Rafa should answer for it, as I've said he should walk if we lose on Weds, but before this sixth months everyone loved his new contract, we went close to the league title and just 18 months ago we were the number 1 ranked side in Europe. I compare that to how it was under Houllier struggling for 4th every season vs far inferior sides to now (who all have good managers and a lot of money) and I am a far happier fan.
The full back/wide man thing I completely agree on (although I like Glen Johnson as a signing). But I will offer up that we had Simao on a plane until Benfica changed their mind at the last minute because of a potential fan backlash. He's an awesome wide man. We also had a fee agreed for Dani Alves 4 years ago before the price went up £2 million at the 11th hour and we couldn't afford it (from £14m to £16m ish - we cant fucking afford £16m!!!). Now he's at Barca and considered the best around - they paid £22m for him. It's not like he hasn't tried to buy good wide men. With a limited budget he's bought Benayoun and Kuyt - fair do's if you think they're not good enough (even though last season they were both excellent) but they're still the most productive wide men in the league even through this form. Given the budget that is no bad thing. Ryan Babel - ok he's a dud, real bad move, but I ask any Liverpool fan if they thought it was a shit signing when it happened? Of course we'd like Mata or Silva - I'm sure Rafa would too but we cannot afford £25 million end of story.
I started a thread on here about Barry Vs Alonso becuase I didn't get it either so it's preaching to the choir there. (Although right now I'd take Barry in a heartbeat) Alonso was shocking the season before last though and some Liverpool fans did get it - some people on here said they'd take Barry too so it wasn't completely insane. I wouldn't have done it though - thought it was daft then and I'm gutted it lost us Alonso.
Babel shouldn't ever play for the club again after his Twitter jollies recently (by all accounts he's off now anyway) and I dont know what more N'gog can do. He's had 2 or 3 quiet games but he's 20, foreign, signed for £1.5m from French reserves to a top 4 side in the EPL and he'd scored 3 in his last 5 starts before yesterday with the second best gpg ratio behind Torres out of any striker under Rafa. What more can the lad do? Of course he's not the finished article, and yes we need a striker but Ngog>Babel every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Anywho this will probably all be academic come Weds. Unlike Houllier though, if he goes on Weds I will maintain he's improved our club hugely.

Yes but we sold Alonso for similar. I think Villa, Spurs, Citeh, Man U and Chelsea have spent more net in 5.5 seasons than us. (Complete guess tho)
