G&H won't get a penny of profit from this deal as well (assuming their legal challenge fails).

That makes me smile.

"The sale is conditional on Premier League approval, resolution of the dispute concerning Board membership and other matters."

Definitely not a done deal yet and I'd be surprised if the Red Sox owners will hang around for months whilst the legal challenge is ongoing.

G&H are panicking about losing their chance of draining any profit from LFC, but the Red Sox owners were well aware of what they'd do before they made the offer.  Bit naive to think they are surprised by it.

All sales have to be approved by the Premier League now, under their new rules to prevent exactly what's happened under G&H and at Man U happening again.

What exactly have they done to merit videos such as the one above?

Maybe someone who is closer to the issue can explain?

You spent 17m on Aquilani last season and haven't sold any huge players except maybe Mascherano (but i don't rate him highly) and Alonso (was an amazing price).

I know they promised to deliver a stadium but if they did all that would happen is that they would get "wearshhh our khhhop' thissshhh shtadium hash no passion''.

G&H really have no leg to stand on - any attempt to block the Red Sox deal will lead to RBS putting the club into administration and then selling it to the Red Sox regardless of what G&H want.

Alonso was just as important to the team as Gerrard is, they haven't been going downhill since he left.

And they have rely too heavily on Torres, they haven't got another striker who is likely to score 10 goals a season, let alone 20.

Just read the whole of the BBC article:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/9064599.stm

And it's really shoddy journalism by the BBC standards.

"Liverpool are to be sold to the owners of the Boston Red Sox baseball team."

then

"But the takeover by the New England Sports Ventures requires resolution of a legal dispute with the Reds' American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

The Premier League, which has refused to comment so far, will also have to approve the latest American buyout."

To say they Henry has bought them, then to show all the hurdles he has to complete to finalise the deal is pretty awful.

lol that sounds like your doing a dutch impression there.

I dont know much about the ins and outs of it, but i think we have gone maybe 4 or 5 Transfer windows taking in more than we have spent, so you would have to ask where the money was going?

I'll let Kin or Baron come and give you an in depth report on why those two yanks are complete twats.

liverpool didnt have to sell in the first place!

There are many ways of ensuring new owners perform pre sale, and erm...... none post sale, clearly the sight of H&G wafting money around the place got everyone a little over excited.

This, is a story of greed on both sides of the coin im afraid.

If there are enough die hard Liverpools fans who believe what they say (there are certainly enough fans), make a movement to buy the club, because it is the only way you will ever be happy. You werent happy when a local liverpool business man owned the club, because some wealthy americans were waving wads of dollars under your dreamy eyes.

I have also never heard of H&G asking for players to be sold, nor have they been overly tight in the transfer market. So blaming them for your poor managers decisions and on pitch performances is, well....... you decide.

Should football owners expect to make a profit?

I can't believe the owners of Man City or Chelsea expect/hope to make profit.

But other teams?

liverpool didnt have to sell in the first place!

Moores said he could no longer compete as an owner of a Premier League club.  He simply didn't have the money.  So he sold, and they (him and the clown Parry) went through a long procedure to find the best buyer.  They obviously didn't achieve that.

Do you actually know any details about the sale, the promises made by G&H, or the terms by which they were sold the club?

By whom?  Moores got money that he certainly deserved after the years of investment and dedication to Liverpool.  Parry came away with far too much.

That sure was what happened.

G&H promised money would be made available for players.  They said that money would be made available for the manager to buy players and any money made from the sale of players would be sacrosanct and would be the managers to use to buy new players.  They also said that not only would the new stadium be built, it would be even better and bigger and they even gave a date that the work would start.  They reneged on all these promises.

Have you looked at the net spend on players since G&H bought the club?  Have you compared that net spend to all the clubs that finished above Liverpool last season?

I can't believe the owners of Man City or Chelsea expect/hope to make profit.

But other teams?

That's an interesting question.  I'm not 100% on the details of the new rules the Premier League are imposing on the buying and selling of clubs, but I'm sure the idea behind it is that the club is meant to be financially viable - and not depend on millions being pumped in from outside the club, leaving the club in a desperate position if this supply of money suddenly dried up.

Not sure what the answer is either.  In rugby league there's a salary cap in place which makes it a much more level playing field for the clubs in the Superleague.  But not sure if the idea of a salary cap in football is possible (is the rugby league cap even legal according to European law?) or if the powers that be (namely Sky) would want it to happen.

My feeling is that clubs should be run to be financially stable and although there are loans in place for things like the Emirates at Arsenal, the club itself isn't dependent upon 'donations' and as long as the club continues to operate properly it can continue to pay the mortgage.
