Superb interview, especially part 2

Can you imagine someone showing up at a professional club and -- just like in a corporate takeover -- reassessing everyone and asking questions like: "Who is really good, and who is really in the right place?"

This is exactly what Liverpool needs

To be honest, didn't know much about him at all, but I'm liking what I've read. Does sound interesting, and possibly exactly what Liverpool needs.

The major criticism of Hodgson itt has been he's got a small team mentality, he doesn't appreciate what it takes to manage a top European club. I personally think that's bollocks but w/e it's the criticism that's been levelled at him. How does Rangnick not fall into this category? Doesn't he manage a German pub team? He does well at small teams but then achieves nothing and gets sacked when he steps up.

His CV looks a lot like Hodgson's did about 20 years ago only without the EPL experience, the international experience, the world cups or the European success.

1983–1985 Viktoria Backnang (player/manager)
1987–1988 TSV Lippoldsweiler (player/manager)
1988–1990 SC Korb
1995–1996 SSV Reutlingen
1997–1999 Ulm 1846
1999–2001 VfB Stuttgart
2001–2004 Hannover 96
2004–2005 Schalke 04
2006–2010 1899 Hoffenheim

Look at the football Hodgson has the team playing, and compare and contrast to any of the managers who have been linked to the role.

If we'd been playing good football, but hadn't got the results I don't think anyone would be calling for Roy to go. It's the way he's determined to make the side play that's the problem.

I thought the team played well 2nd half after going a goal down vs Bolton. Difficult to take a team low on confidence and under immense pressure and get them pinging it all around the park while the boos ring out imo. Joe Cole came out after the game and said "We are all behind the manager. We are playing for the shirt and the manager" so in fact he still has the dressing room.

Anyway three players I'd like to see come in this month. Charles N'Zogbia, Nicolas Bendtner and a fit again Jimmy Bullard. Any other shouts??

It's a fair point but the major criticisms of Woy have been interviews (very small team minded) and most importantly tactics which are for a mid-table side at best.

Neither of these points is relevant from this candidate from what I have read in the above.

Reina, Torres, his own signing Meireles and Glen Johnson are 100% not behind the manager. It's pretty widely rumoured that Gerrard isn't either.

I have no doubts that Cole, Carragher, Lucas & Konchesky are firmly behind the manager.

Highlight the sackings please. You're using this to make it sound like he is sacked every job. He's just done really well and quit Hoffenheim which means he hasn't been sacked for at least 5 years.

Sorry buddy, just to clarify, I said he did well at small teams and then achieves nothing and gets sacked when he steps up to the big teams.

You highlight the big teams and i'll highlight the sackings.

Was he sacked? I read that he walked out because they sold a player behind his back and he did it out of principle?

Both were you points but I've done both for you. Wasn't sure what to do with Hoffenheim though? Are they a small team that he acieved nothing with or a big team that he was sacked from? Either way I thought Bold Italic was the way to go. Hope you approve.
