seems a bad move to me for both player and liverpool but £9 million for lambert is good buisness for saints after all he is 32
hope its not a dbl deal with lallana though

no way is it a bad move for the player

no southampton fan can surely begrudge him it, bought him for £1m, two promotions and back to the club he supports after a world cup at age 32. fairytale stuff

for liverpool it looks a lot of money for the age, but obviously he's something very different to every other striking option at the club

If Southampton have done it this way to make more money on the signing on clause for Lallana - then theoretically it is £20m for Lallana and £4m for Lambert. I'd say that was a good deal.

Liverpool are close to agreeing £9m deal for Rickie Lambert. #lfc (Sky Sports)

I've heard its a double deal with Lallana total 24m. 15m for lallana, partly done to lower the payment to bournemouth

the whole situation seems a bit scummy imo feels like pretty bad etiquette from Liverpool.

Surely it's Southampton that are being scummy.

Heard it was a value of £4m placed on Lambert, but that there's going to be a deal involving TWO other Southampton players. So that'd be Lovren as well.

Strange situation though.

How so? It would be a move from Soton to pay Bournemouth less.

i think its bad for player as he is 4th choice behind suarez sturidge and sterling

i dont begrudge him at all

sterling doesn't play up top

the liverpool squad has to be much bigger, Champions league to play..Could be a 55-60 game season if it goes right

£4m plus add ons looks v good.

He is quoted 6/4 Bet365 to score 10+ if it goes through, according to their PR man

More importantly we've bid for Moreno and hearing other news that we've bid for Sanchez.

Rodgers signs and it all goes off. Still no sign of a centre half.

Top stuff!

Love the fact we now seem to try to secure most signings very early on these days

Nobody?

Really?!

Liverpool don't need any strikers but have signed an established name (notwithstanding they spent £35m on a lump up front a few years ago).

Is Ancelotti's "la decima" present being giftwrapped?

Been talk about Remy and a whole load of other 'stand in'forwards, but Lambert probably fits the bill the best, and always gives us a plan b. If it does happen, does he take over from Gerrard on penalties?

That would make our teams about even right? Wink
