The Silverstone one isn't open for entries yet - it opens up late Autumn I think. I've been busy with various things (including fixing my laptop from when Windows went instacorrupt on me), and I had intended to put a list together ages ago. I'll have a look through the events on the Runners Word forum and put a list together of the 'best' runs at the different distances. It'll also give me a kick up the arse and get me back into training.

Well i started training on monday but trouble was it was more suitable for the 3 peaks than the half marathon. I went on a tab up the brecon beacons to the highest mountain, pen-y-fan. The fog was so bad i couldnt see 50yards in front of me but followed the map and paths and got up there fine. I decided then, after a respite at the top i would go back down the easy way and jog it, inspired by the SAS selection hopefuls that were up there at the time. The trouble came when i was positive i should take the right path and not the left and carried on. 45minutes later i realised i really should be close to the car now or at least be hearing traffic on the A470, but instead when the fog lifted briefly for a couple of minutes i realised i was in a massive valley i had never seen before. after a quick landmark spot and comparing it with the map i found i was around 4 miles from where i should be and couldnt find an easy way back as the massive mountain i had just climbed to get into the valley was nearly as big as Pen-y-fan!! Instead i ended up walking an extra 9 miles on some of the worst uneven ground i have had the displeasure of walking on and really got fearful at one point that the light would draw in on me. I finally found the road anyway and made it back safe but my feet didnt. They have been blistered and sore for last 2 days lol! So I think until the weather clears i wont be heading back into the fog again and stick to some training for the half marathon. Hope everyone else who commited at the start is gearing themselves up for it!!

I'm off to buy some shares in Vaseline. An essential part of training for half marathons!

Could we do the 3 peaks over 48 hours??lol Im deffo up for this challenge and the half marathon if anyone in glasgow wants to train with me? And, could we camp on the mountain at night? And could you carry the refreshments? Its all about chivalry:)

and of course i forgot to mention, the camping would include 'high' stakes poker on the mountain. We need to get Rod to come as this was his concept:)

Has anyone been training recently? I've had a poor couple of weeks, too much drinking and unhealthy eating. I'm expecting my Garmin forerunner 305 in the next few days so hopefully that will help remotivate and refocus!!

Whoops - forgot I was going to be posting a list of possible events to run. Will get on to it. I have a Garmin Forerunner 201, and it's absolutely brilliant. Makes sure you can't cheat yourself, as you know exactly how far you've run, and how fast you ran it. As a tip, I wear mine on my upper-arm, rather than on my wrist. Much more accurate there, as it's not shielded by your body when you run. You can also download your runs onto certain mapping software, and see the routes you've run, etc. Brilliant for geeks who run - like me .

This sounds very interesting. Is it too late to join in??
However, it is late, I am tired and tomorrow I will regret I even THOUGHT about it let alone expressed an interest lol.
Any other lasses joining in though? And is anyone in the Essex area that I could train with??? I'm free most days if anyone out there prefers to train during the day.
Mich
The more the merrier Nothing has been arranged yet so it's just a matter of working out which one we wanna do and then signing up. So far I can plod around for 20 minutes without stopping, I have also done 15 mins then had a couple of mins rest then done another 15 mins. I'm getting a bit of a pain in my right leg which I think is called shin splints. Doesn't seen to be much you can do about it tho

Dont think it was full blown shin splints for me but I did try not to run when it hurt. Its best to avoid long periods of running on concrete and treadmills - the grass or a gravel path tend to aggrevaite it less.

For what its worth Hastings Half Marathon is routinely ranked highly for half marathons. On the plus side it isn't until March so you'd have plenty of training time, on the minus side it means you'd have to visit Hastings - on balance I'd say the negative outweighs the positive and you're best staying away.
